The service is appaulling!, as the staff are either out in the back bar or too busy doing other things rather than concentrating on good customer service.
It's very dingy inside, as the décor hasn't been changed at all or spring cleaned or dusted for years.
The front lounge dinner service is awful because they don't follow up on just one table.
There's only ever 1 person on even on a Friday or sat nite for service starting at 6-9pm
The food is very expensive and not varied.
Deserts are extremely limited too.
A real disappointment for being the hotel in the square for locals.

Room tip: Never stayed there

The hotel has character with a open log fire in the bar with eclectic period furniture.overall the staff where very friendly but where not always available with un attended bar and reception several times during two night stay.the Scottish breakfast was delicious.we had the valentines menu which again was lovely and delicious,a shame the dining room was busy.despite our comments we enjoyed our visit and if in the area would stay again

Was disappointed with the food here, the meal was over cooked and over priced.
It's a nice place, but you need to up your standards if you want to charge these prices for food.
Wine was Ok & cold as requested, service pleasant enough.

phoned to book lunch at this excellent Perthshire hotel
relaxed atmosphere and immediate attention from the pleasant staff which continued throughout the meal
Starters were varied and my scallops generous in number and bacon wrapped which proved a delightful combination. My guest had smoked salmon beautiful presented if a little generous in quantity
then the highlight - roast beef and ALL the trimmings -maybe a little well done but still delicious tender - yorkshires like my Mum from Wakefield made
Puddings superb, sticky toffee and apple crumble and custard - my request for ice cream with the crumble supplied without comment or charge
with 2 glasses of a strong red, bill was welcomed, cheaper than cocktails and bar snacks at Malmaison - Dundee

Room tip: went for Sunday lunch but have stayed in the past and the rooms are excellent

This hotel is so expensive (£2.10 for a can of pop?!)

I was not happy about the way the main meals were served on the buffet. The menu was full of punctuation and spacing errors which made it difficult to know what went with what.

When at the buffet table no items of food had any labels on them, know one had any idea what anything was let alone allergy information.

The tomato salad was just a bowl of chopped tomatoes. All that for £55 was a rip off!

The food quality however was great
