A visit to this Museum is a must if you are visiting Lorca. There are three floors to the museum each depicting the history of the Brotherhood and with displays of the regalia that is used on festive occasions. On the second floor there is access to the balcony of the church and organ music beginnings when you enter adding to the occasion. There is a display of an ornate float that is used in processions. The embroidery work that has gone into the making of these robes and mantles must have taken thousands of hours over the years. A visit is essential to understand the culture of the locality.

If you are in the area and admire quality craftsmanship then you have to visit. Although fundamentally it is about religion, this is not just for the religious.

Most events have costumes that look good at a distance but are "cheap" up close. These costumes have real meaning to the custodians and are amazingly detailed. Thousands of hours in each one and it is clearly visible up close. Photos don't do them justice.

I visited the Azul, Blanco and Purple but the Azul is where the money is. Blanco is a good 2nd place for the costumes but edges it on the associated church/chapel.
If you just visit one - go Azul but try to do both. The other 2 - maybe more for the locals with connections to them.

The receptionist at the Parador de Lorca suggested we go to this museum and we were so glad she did. We were in Lorca just before the Semana Santa Festival and the town was preparing the streets and building grand stands. The museum gave us a complete background and understanding of this important festival in Lorca and we now want to return next year for festival itself. The museum only charged us 3 euros entrance instead of the usual 5 as some of the items were missing (taken out in preparation for festivities) We learnt so much and spent at least two hours there. We would thoroughly recommend this museum.

Wonderful to see the artisans work and a great religious history. A must see during Easter in this small town.

The Blue Brotherhood museum is amazing. Very cheap entry, and a lot to see. Amazing embroidery and you can watch the women at work (& talk with them if you speak Spanish!). Incredible skill. Even close up, seeing the detail it looks like a masterpiece painting.
There's a lot to see.
Costumes and fabrics used to decorate the floats in the Easter parades.
Well worth remembering that all these places are open in the early evening, we went before dinner out.

We heard this was good, but didn't appreciate how much. (Only 1.50 euros each!) Take a lift to the top floor and work your way down. The museum is one of three Semana Santa exhibitions and this was is reputed to be the best. You'll see at first hand the level of expertise going into the outfits and floats worn on the Semana Santa. We did the Semana Santa in the morning, had some tapas in the square then visited Lorca Castle in the afternoon. You can also pick up other free attractions listed in English at the Lorca Tourism Office.

We were lucky enough to have tickets in the stands to see these lovely capes in action. It was wonderful to see them before in a calm setting to photograph them and then see them during the Semana Santa processions being worn. Such amazing work and stunning colours, so worth seeing the exhibition, very recommended.

Incredible to see, the workmanship, it is just stunning. You learn the history of the parades during Holy Week too.
If you go to Lorca and to visit, you are missing a great opportunity to see how history is made and still admired today.

So interesting to visit this place and to admire the incredible work of the "bordadoras" which, through a long work that can last years, have created divine embroideries. A place to visit, especially if you like to have a better understanding on how special is the "Semana Santa" in Lorca.
