Well worth a visit. The guided tour takes about an hour. Note that there is no associated parking so you have to find a place on your own. Very good docents answering questions and showing their enthusiasm for this colonial German home.

It is intellectually enjoyable to see the oldest house in Frederick. It is now a National Historic Landmark . It has a solid build of two-foot-thick walls made of stones from local quarry. The building features a local history museum which was unfortunately not open during our visit. Even the external inspection of this historic house is interesting.

This was my second time visiting the Brunner house, in which I am in relation to the Brunner family! The house is really neat inside and our and you will learn a good bit of the Brunner family history along with Frederick history! My second visit was on National Historic Landmark Day.

If you are interested in the history of German settlers or are interested in architecture, this is a cool tour. It's the oldest building in Frederick and is well preserved or as they said "preserved due to neglect" for many years. This is not a tour that I would take kids to. They really won't find it interesting and will likely get bored. The herb garden is really cool too. In the dead of summer, it is HOT so be prepared and if you have trouble with really steep stairs you may need to skip parts. You should also ask though as they do have options for less strenuous stairs upon request. As someone who is half German,
It is pretty interesting and I'm glad we did it. The best part is that they ask for 10. donations only.

This is a nice historic place to visit. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and encouraged questions throughout the tour. I found it interesting that the house is more of a history lesson than a beautified example of 'how it might have looked'. This is an inexpensive place to visit to learn about how our forefathers lived.
