I arrived at the ridiculously early hour for Portugal of about 7.20pm for dinner at this restaurant. It is discreet, very unpretentious, very nice and run by an older couple as is often the case he. He looks after the front suff while she does the cooking. He was really helpful in making suggrestions and not pushing anything in particular and certainly not the more expensive items on the menu of which there were a few including lobster.
It was very clear that he was reall interested in what he was doing and knew a lot about fish and what is good.
I settled for whelks in a very good vinagrette, which was essentially REALLY GOOD olive oil with a squeeze of lemon through it. One eats whelks more for texture that for tase and these were really lovely. I then had red sea bream which was excellent. It was selling at €45 a kg and the piece I had was about 350-400 gr which was plenty and really good. Simple accompaniment of potato ans veg in olive oil. Dessert was a very nice little homeade orange which was also excellent. Sparkling water, I don't drink wine, nice coffee.
The manager was extremely pleasant and not at all push, doing a job he loved and was very good at. €37 all inc for an excellent dinner was very goods value in the quality/price register. Highly recommended

We went there as an alternative to another place that was closed and it turned out to be an excellent decision.

Quality food that took a bit too be served, indicating how fresh everything is prepared but also that staff is underestimated since the restaurant had only about a third of us capacity occupied. I'd assume they have more people working on weekends...

Waiter was super friendly, explaining the dishes and recommending some options.

Prices OK, probably on the high end for local visitors (approx. €15 per dish). Size of the options very fair.

Thank Jaime P

There was a group of 8 of us and the restaurant suggested that for the main course they did a range of grilled fish between us. This worked very well and allowed us have some of perhaps four different fish. The waiter brought bread and three dishes including crab and sardine to spread while waiting for our starters. We had two different starters, some of us having the rich fish soup, others a spinach soup. The restaurant also offered a choice of homemade desserts and the chocolate mousse I had was very good. We got through three bottles of wine between us and including a tip it came to 40 euro (£29) per head.

This restaurant is perhaps best well known for having taking several prices in gastronomic contests, national and international. Don't expect a Michelin star, but rather a sophisticate version of local dishes. Go, try and be surprised.
Unfortunately the ambient is not the best as the restaurant is often empty, but don't be fooled by that.

I think the word "excellent" really defines the place.
The food is elaborate and truly good, both in quality and in taste.
It certainly deserves a repeat!
