Many people have commented on their all inclusive deal, we thought it might be worth commenting on the 1/2 board option. We paid £275 for the week (2 adults and one 4 year old)and for the price we were very happy. We paid a further £24 for return private taxi transfers. They offer you the chance to upgrade you package on arrival for 15euros a day a head, suspect you could probably get a better deal on line before you come.
Location: in a largely residential area - not pretty or senic but felt very safe. Takes about an hour on the bus to get to Valetta.
Room: no black out curtains and weak airconditioning, but a large room (an additional bed was put in) which was very clean. to note the plugs in Malta are the same as the UK. Plenty of hot water. There was a fridge and kettle in the room but you dont get tea and coffee provided except for the first night in this deal.
Pools: there are 3 one in the basement which was warm and good for the kids, but very humid down there and I think the filtration system should have been on more, one on the ground floor, generally not used as it is constantly in the shade and one on the roof with a very shallow child sub pool, a bit chilly for my taste but fine. No graduated level in the main pool so my little boy was a bit nervous in it. There seemed to be a lot of people crowded around a small area but all in good spirits
Food: cereal, basic cooked sausage one day, bacon the other, always eggs, canned juice and some fresh fruit, and some cold cuts for breakfast. Bring your own tea and coffee if you like a certain brand. Evening meal - the slightly naughty thing they do (for which you only get stung once) is offer you a drink as you go to sit down but they present you with the bill at the end. The 1/2 board option does not include any drinks and that isnt made clear. Drinks prices are 2 euros for a pint and 1.60 for a 125 ml glass of wine The menu is salads, a couple of pasta choices and 3 other hot options, puddings are largely cake. The menu is circa mid 70's but well cooked and plenty of food. We had a very early departure 4 am and the staff put out tea and coffee, sandwiches and cake for you which I thought was a really nice touch.
Staff: a mixture of nationalities all very pleasant.
Clientel: a mixture of young families and retired with a few single parents and older lone travellers. Largely British but there were Danes, French and German there while we were there.
Summary: If you are after a clean, well run hotel for a fair price this is it. If you are expecting high levels of gastronomy or a young "scene" you will be disapointed.
