Nice hotel. Accommodation is in apartments which I think are very nice and spacious with ac. Not great disabled access in these. Pretty grounds and food is nice though choice is limited. Pool lovely and situated onthe beach this place is lovely and quiet and not over crowded or commercial. Car hire is extremely expensive and worth sourcing your own from elsewhere. Drinks are extortionate, £33 for two double G&T. On the whole you can get around the negatives with confidence - would come back! WiFi is free but pretty useless....

The hotel itself was lovely .. the waiting staff very attentive, by day a real treat. The issues here arose in the evening. 2 specific examples, 1. A rat - yes an ACTUAL rat joined us for dinner. The rat was bad but the attitude of the management when we told them at check out was worse. Couldn't be less interested and whilst I imagine they cannot control every rat that appears they could at least give the impression of being concerned at the hygiene issues it poses in their restaurant. 2. The Entertainment - frankly I would have preferred the rat back than the children's dancing that started at 10pm - top billing both Friday and Saturday night. They can do better than that in a 4* hotel - in fact we went next door to the camp site out of sheer desperation to escape the tweenies and they had a great show on annoyingly. To be clear - I am not being anti kid at all just anti after 10pm kids show as were the other adults watching the 3 kids taking part. Again most dissapointing was the management response when raised the next day as a critique for them .. I think maybe the rat would have been more interested - he certainly hung round longer than the management were willing to to discuss the perils of this enter-lame-ment!

We stayed at the Hotel Flamingo for a week in August (which was an alternative hotel offered to us after our agent changed it few weeks before the trip), I was skeptical at first due to mixed reviews but to our surprise it wasn't a complete let down!

We had a sea view room (room 152) with a balcony, double bed (two singles together) and a bunk bed. The room was very basic and in need of some repairs and updating. Door lock didn't work from the inside, bunk bed steps didn't feel secure and bathroom door could have been positioned better as the toilet was right behind it so every time you walked in, you ran the risk of hitting your head or face if you were to walk in quickly!
Shower pressure was good but temperamental at times. Cleaned every day and very keen to clean early so plan to be out of your room by 10am! Fresh towels provided every day.

We hired a car for the week and the drive along SS195 was approx. 30-45 minutes, easy drive from the airport and they do drive on the right hand side, so took a bit of getting used to at first. It's approx. 33kms from Cagliari, nothing much to see or do so if you're looking for night time walks, bars or shops nearby, there are none as it is located in the countryside and not what I would consider a touristy place. Not such a bad thing if you're like us who enjoy the beaches more than city or night life! It is perfectly located for families, lots of Italians staying at the hotel and very close to some of the beautiful beaches in South Sardinia with approx. 15-30 mins drive from the hotel. It's worth renting a car to explore the other beaches as the hotel beach is rocky and there are so many other beaches that is worth a visit.

We had full board - breakfast, lunch and dinner. Drinks not included. They have three restaurants. Breakfast was a buffet-type of hot and cold selection and self-service. It was OK.
Lunch was a disappointment, served at the Wild Duck restaurant which was at the back of the hotel across a wooden bridge which I think it's part of Hotel Mare II. Buffet selection of pasta, fish, meat and salads. If not having lunch at the hotel and planning a day out, you can order a packed lunch the night before from reception - ham and cheese baguette, water and a fruit. Nothing fancy and we've done similar on other holidays with much more appealing packed lunches!
Dinner was the highlight for us, every night guests had the same table throughout the stay and same waiter/waitress. There are 4 options on the menu for starter and mains plus buffet salad. You choose 1 starter and 1 main, different choices every night and one of the best cooking we have experienced. Italians do love great food and we certainly benefited from good cuisine every night!
Drinks are not included, a 1lt bottle of water cost around €4 euros, bottle of wine between €15-25 (cheapest ones on the drinks menu). At dinner, if you don't finish your drinks they keep it on your table for the following evening.

Staff are helpful, friendly and attentive.

Catered for Italian guests only it seems, including kids entertainment were all in Italian which was disappointing. Live music every night, beach games like darts and volleyball during the day.

Swimming pool
Good sized pool, smaller one for kids and a large one. Clean and not crowded which was great as most guests are on the beach.

Other facilities
There's a gym and wellness centre, didn't use but does look tired and empty. Free parking, first come first served. Beach have sun lounges (chargeable as on the seafront) and deck chairs which are free.

What to see around Hotel Flamingo?

Nora archaeological ruins and nearby beach - 10 mins drive

Town of Pula is very small, has a few shops, restaurants, market and museum.

Su Guideu a must see and approx. 15 min drive, one of the best beaches we have ever seen.. crystal clear waters, sandy beach and not overcrowded. We also went to Tuerreda beach (25 mins drive) which was apparently no. 1 beach in South Sardinia, but it was overrated and overcrowded!

Cagliari marina is approx. 30 mins drive from flamingo - nice day out, free parking in some areas, walk to museum and cathedral was a bit of a hike so make sure to wear comfortable shoes.

If you're driving around and in need of a supermarket, there's Conad approx. 10 min drive. There are smaller markets dotted around along SS195.

Overall, Hotel Flamingo was a good base for the week, highlight for us was the dinner, staff and swimming pool. We would consider staying here again in the future.

We went to Sardinia for a short summer break in August 2018.

Hotel flamingo is mainly for families, brlllant for young families with children. There’s a great swimming pool, activities run by the hotel, good food, and a fantastic private beach.

One tip on the beach facilities, front tie €30, second row €20 for the day. Best to take your own towels as it’s €3 a day per towel!

Get up early for breakfast too!!!! Lots of very hungry people in the mornings.

Good to hire a car at the airport, as it’s a bit out of the way...

Great place to take the kids for a perfect summer beach/pool holiday.

Have fun.

We stayed in this beautiful resort for 2 weeks. The food was simply amazing- every night something different and everything delicious. A veritable tour de force of Italian cooking! Lots of Italians stay there and it is clear the food is a big draw! There is a fully stocked pool side bar, a kids club, the ocean is 15 steps from the pool catering giving flexibility for groups with mixed tastes. The staff were incredibly friendly and worked so hard to help us enjoy our stay. Highly recommended!
