Castelsardo Resort Village

We booked an unrefurbished low cost room and that's what we got! It was very basic and the sounds from adjoining rooms could be heard clearly. However, it was clean and comfortable and had a lovely sea view. The air conditioning was good and the shower worked well. It had a small fridge which was really useful. No kettle but we took a travel one with us. The breakfast was ok, with a selection of hot and cold food although the choices each day were a bit hit and miss. With a little effort, this hotel could be really good. It needed updating and a little extra attention to detail. Having said that, it would probably have been out of our price range then. The staff were really friendly and helpful and sorted out any problems we had.
There are limited buses into Castelsardo. We often walked but the roads have no pavement so are not very safe. It's best to hire a car to get about, which we did for a couple of days. Car hire was cheap - a Fiat Panda for 50 euros a day. The area of Castelsardo immediately around the castle is beautiful. The rest of Castelsardo is a bit shabby.
You need swim shoes for the beach at the hotel as it is stoney. We loved the peaceful little bay and enjoyed snokelling there. This part of Sardinia is very unspoilt with beautiful scenery, beaches and forests.

I think there will be a big difference whether you stay here off season, as we did, or in high season. We had a beautiful, obviously very recently renovated room, with an excellent bathroom and beautiful terrace overlooking the sea.
In high season there is animation and all this kind of stuff we hate, but right now in september it was very peaceful and quiet.
The swimming pool with salty water is very big and nice.
The beach is not great, it is a bit stony, hard to get in and out of the water without special shoes.
Castelsardo is one of the most beautiful cities in Sardinia.
Other people complain about a lot of stairs in the resort but what do you expect when you choose a location on the rocks by the sea! We liked it.
The breakfast was ok.

Room Tip: Wifi in de kamers ZEER wisselend, goed in de lobby

Nice place to start discovering the North Shore of Sardinia. Beware that you will need a car if yoiu want to go to the best beaches. Interesting place with nice views, and a good value fore money. Good dinner but weak breakfast. It seems to be stucked in the 90´s. with some more investment it wuld be a great place, but it would easilly cost the double.
Excellent front desk staff, that will inform you about the best beaches and places to visit.

Room Tip: it´s worth to pay for a confort room

HOTEL-
we spent almost 2 weeks in this wonderful hotel.
The hotel beach is like a BLUE LAGOON with clear water and free canoe boats:-)
The sea view from from our room was amazing and overwhelming, we had our room near the pool and not to much away from the beach.

BEACH-
There is a shuttle bus to the beach but we had no problems to walk the few steps and road to the beach because of the amazing view.
Water is very good for snorkeling.

FOOD-
Our highlight was the Italian FOOD every evening, special nights are Wednesday Sardinia night and Saturday FISH night.

LOCATION-
the hotel has an unique location but I only recommend hiring a car ,as you need it to explore the area or going to town Castelsardo or going to the Supermarket.
There is a free parking space from the hotel.

RECEPTION-
there is the friendly staff from the reception open 24 hours, they were very helpfull.
Special thanks to Francesa she helped us explore the area from Alghero and pretty beaches.

HEART OF THE HOTEL
is the ANIMATION Team run by Girolamo, APPLAUSO for Girolamo.
Every night was like watching theater, Cabaret and cinema 2gether.
His efforts and team make us laugh like crazy.
Special thx to Cristian who made the shows more extra special.

Sport-
the canoe @ the beach is free and we loved the TENNIS court as well, you just need to ask the helpful reception for tennis rackets.
We also used the little Ping pong place near the bar.
If you into learning more dance moves and some AQUA GYM you will do it with the lovely Miriana she is the best with full of energy and motivation.

ALL IN ALL A perfect VACATION because the hotel staff is more than friendly and welcoming and the area was AMAZING.

I will come here again. for sure

Room Tip: ask for a room near the pool and mainbuilding

We spent a week here, very clean, well equipped room with superb views from balcony. Low key, not a luxury resort, loved swimming at the beach before breakfast, good pool, food good, could improve the coffee. A car is essential, visiting the magnificent beaches of the area is a must, staff give great reccomendations and are very helpful. Tennis court is old but fine for hols, plus they supply rackets and balls.
