Comfortable

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Aug 2016via mobile
I stayed at Royal Sonesta in Boston on April. I attended to a business meeting.
I found the hotel very comfortable. Staff was attentive.
Food was good.
The most important thing is that I forgot my kindle and they returned it without any problem!

Havent stayed here in ages and decided to try it. Amazing decor and very professional staff. Rooms are clean and offer great views. Free wifi is a plus and a couple of restaurants on property. Very close to the Galleria Mall and the Museum of Science so lits to do!

We booked our stay here just a couple weeks out and the price was a little more than we wanted to spend....However when we checked in, there were not any rooms left for the type we had booked and we got upgraded to the Inman Suite on the 10th floor with INCREDIBLE views of the Charles River and the Boston skyline. Instantly the price that we paid was more than worth it.

We were going to an event at Fenway so we were not in the closest area but we avoided the inflated Back Bay prices so the extra few minutes to get there was not an issue.

We had dinner an drinks at the patio bar of the ArtBar restaurant. Again, beautiful view of the river and skyline. Our female bartender was less than personable but after a couple of their pink martinis (I can't remember the name!) it didn't bother me as much ;) My husband and I each ordered the Lobster Roll which was good but not quite worth the $27 price....but I thoroughly enjoyed the sweet potato tots.

The next morning we were back at the ArtBar for breakfast. Our waiter was Gazman and he was awesome. I had a little headache going on so he made sure to keep my water and coffee filled...as well as my husband's OJ. He was very personable and extremely attentive. We had made mention of our daughters and just lit up and enjoyed talking about his own 2 girls as well. If we go back, we will definitely be requesting a table in his section.

I choke on the parking prices everytime we head into the city and this one was no different...$48 for parking in their parking garage. We opted to self park instead of using the valet.

Hello, hca319, Thank you for your detailed feedback! We love reading guest reviews that are note their Boston adventures so that we may live vicariously through them! I do apologize that we were unable to accommodate your original room type, but am thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your upgrade to the Inman Suites. It's one of our favorites for long gazes at the Charles River. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your meal in ArtBar. I will certainly pass along your kind words to Gazman. Our associates are surely one of the best parts of the hotel! We cannot wait your return!

I've never spent so much time in a lobby of a hotel, but this one has such great energy and style that it makes you want to hang out there. One evening of our stay there was a reception in the lobby with complimentary wine for guest who were travel reward members.

I'm partial to the modern aesthetic of this hotel, from the beautiful lobby, to the sleek rooms. We had a gorgeous view overlooking the Charles River and the Boston skyline. It's an idyllic setting for a city hotel - close to nature trails and the bustle of the city.

The Cambridgeside Galleria (shopping mall) is literally across the street which means you have access to shopping and a food court with many eating options. There is a Cheesecake Factory in the mall too. Be careful crossing the street though, a pedestrian was struck on the crosswalk while we were at the hotel. Luckily, she wasn't hurt.

Travelling with two young children means we usually chose a hotel with a pool. The pool is located in an atrium and is lovely. They played a movie at the pool one evening we were there.

I found the staff to be exceptionally nice and helpful. We were travelling in a vehicle that would not fit in the parking garage; however, they were able to accommodate it in their service loading area. The one downfall of our stay was the cost of parking - $45 per night, but parking in Boston is pricey. I would definitely return to this hotel, but without a car.

Room tip: Ask for a room with a view, it's worth it.

We were at this hotel for seven days and six nights. The hotel is very clean and the staff very friendly. The rooms were also clean and spacious. The A/C was not very powerful in the room. I set the temperature to 68, but it always stayed at 71. Also ask for a room that doesn’t have a connection door between two rooms. You can hear everything the people in the next room are saying. Everything was within a short walking distance, shopping mall, subway to the city. The hotel is situated on the Charles River with a bike and running path right beside it. There were free bike to use for two hours after that there was a charge. The only problems I had with the hotel are the parking fees and a charge for bottled water in your room. I think there should be a reduced rate if parking for a long stay. The charge was $42 USD per night. Also the bottled water is not free which I made that mistake. The price is $3 a bottle and the cost is not very visible on the bottle tag. As I soon as I checked in the first day at the parking I found the attendant Andre very rude when I asked him some questions about the parking. He wanted to take my keys and put my car in the valet parking. Other than these few problems the stay was enjoyable.

This is a "wicked awesome" place to stay on The Charles! I am a runner so it has several courses for many levels and lots of eye candy (weather permitting) close to museums and shopping, MIT and Hahvaud. Top notch work out room and nice views from rooms facing the water. I travel to Boston on business a couple times a year and always look forward to the Sonesta!
