This has got to be one of the must-see waterfalls on the island. The sheer beauty and force of the water rushing down is something to marvel at. The path going up to the top is a must. if you keep walking upstream the Skoga river, you will find a series of smaller waterfalls, creeks, snowy mountains to the north and the coastline to the south. Well worth the time.

A stunning waterfall, with amazing self created rainbows. You are able to get near the base and feel the true force, but be warned you will get wet, and it is very slippery underfoot. The walk up the 570 steps to the viewing platform is strenuous and not worth it unless you want to walk over the top and try and see the Glacier. The steps are steep, wobbly and very busy at times. However good views of the area from the steps.

Easy to access from Route 1 with free parking this is a stunning and unique waterfall. In the sunshine the spray generates a rainbow which stretches across the falls. There are steep stairs to to top viewing platform but you should only attempt this with decent footwear and be prepared for the wind at the top.

Of all the waterfalls in Iceland , this is my favourite . Get as close as you can and see the rainbow effect as the water crashes down . It’s wonderful . I love the walk to the top viewing platform too, and the hiking trail beyond . Not to be missed .

You can park very close to the bottom of the waterfalls which are already beautiful. You can then walk behind the waterfalls! You will be very wet but who cares...
For kids it is an easy walk and very impressive. Definitely worth the stop and more !
