Owner description: Named in 2012 as one of National Geographic's “25 Wonders of the World," Blue Lagoon has evolved from its infancy as a reservoir of geothermal runoff into a world of geothermal wonder. The unique properties of its waters provide not only an enchanting lagoon experience, but also the patented, active ingredients in Blue Lagoon skin care: silica, algae, and minerals. Blue Lagoon is located in a sprawling, 800 year old lava field in the heart of the Reykjanes Peninsula – a UNESCO Geopark. Just 20 minutes from Keflavík International Airport and 50 minutes from Reykjavík, Blue Lagoon is simultaneously remote and easily accessible.

This place will try to up-sell you everything, but know going in that renting a robe or shoes is unnecessary. All you need is your swimsuit and a towel. When you come out of the change room / shower you basically stow these items in the outdoor lockers and slip into the water for the duration. The exception of course is if you are intending to lounge around the eating area in which case you may want to cover up. The first question they ask you when you arrive is if you are tired. This is because the Blue Lagoon is situated so close to the airport that many come directly from their flight -- there is even a facility to check your suitcases for this purpose. I can't imagine coming off a long flight with the corresponding jet lag and slipping into these 100 F waters as I would be comatose! If you can adjust to the local time zone before enjoying the Lagoon. It is a beautiful, incredible, Bucket List experience. Enjoy!

We got the return bus ticket to the Spa, and woud recommend doing so unless you have your own car. The bus ticket is only slightly more expensive than the admittance, and as that counts as a reserved ticket - it made entrance easier. I upgrade for approx $10USD more for a free drink and the special mask. It was worth it. Make sure to explore all around the pool - as the bar area was almost empty, as were the far edges. There are many excellent spots to take pictures, but rem, ember to take a plastic carrying case for the camera or phone. Make sure to do the Mud, it really makes you feel wonderful. Follow the advice to condition your hair before entering, the water sure does dry hair out. Also, wash and rinse your swimsuit well after leaving. The water can effect that too!

Fantastic experience. We almost didn't go as some people gave it a negative review or said the small, more rural baths were better (like Secret Lagoon). They are mad - Blue Lagoon was by far the best (we went to four different baths). The silica mask was fun, but get the Premium Package. You get a towel, a drink (which are SUPER expensive if you pay on your own) and you get the Algae mask (which soothes your skin after the silica). You can stay as long as you want, lots of temperature differences so you can find what is right for you, huge pool so it wasn't that crowded (we went in the evening - there were a lot of people, but we never bumped into anybody and never felt crowded) and the showers/bathrooms were in great shape. DO NOT MISS THIS.

Warm water, great drinks, and an awesome view-what else could you possibly need?!

Make sure you bring the proper clothing We had to rent a lot of the bathing suits and towels, also know that you MUST shower before getting in so maybe bring a shower cap as well.

Other than that stuff in the locker room the outside lagoon is beautiful, and the workers are great helping apply natural face masks on you!

Great experience!!
