I first stayed at AAH in October 2016 and was amazingly surprised. The staff was pleasant, even helping to accommodate my needs to the best of their abilities. The owner, Jay, was quite pleasant and helpful, even offering house shoes since there are no shoes allowed in the building. The fact that they have two members of staff who live in the building helped my to feel secure and after a brief stay at another "inn" in Anchorage right down the street where there was no staff on sight past 11 pm, nor an emergency number if needed; as soon as I could I came back in January 2017. Yes, they were going through renovations, but those renovations have helped make staying here even more welcoming, including secure storage (if need be), secure rooms and outer door that use actual keys, clean bathrooms, kitchen area that is now inviting. The price is great (I was paying 300 at one inn for the same room I get here for 100 less) and IT IS CLEAN. Plus, with the community kitchen, I have never had to worry about someone eating else eating my food. You cannot say that about a lot of places in Anchorage. The staff take great pride in their work here and the ambience is excellent.More
