“terrific food - great atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2012

Art of the table is a small dining room set in a residential area above Gas Works Park. They offer one set menu and optional wine pairings (in our case also one Belgium ale). Everything is absolutely fresh and the ingredients are of the best quality. Still, the dishes do not appear puristic, but the flavors of the products are enhanced by spices, herbs, oils and essences. Each course is presented by the chef with a little story on how he discovered a certain product or why they present a specific wine or beer with the course. The atmosphere is absolutely relaxed and welcoming. Although we could only stay for two days, we agree that Art of the Table represents the best Seattle has to offer: relaxed vibes, good food and friendly people.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2012

My recommendation is to go on Friday or Saturday for the chef's tasting menu - nine courses with accompanying wine pairings. All locally-sourced food prepared right in front of you (if you choose to sit at the counter - do, and have a pleasant chat with Dustin, the chef). Or, sit at the communal table and make new friends as you all share a great meal. If you don't want the tasting menu, that's OK too, as the ala cart items are excellent as well. Prices for this kind of dining are very reasonable, as is the wine list.

Service is great as well, with the staff eager to explain each dish. They are also very easy to work with dealing with food allergies.

Great place for a special occasion!

“Amazing food in a laid back Seattle venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2012

After much research online and after reading so many great reviews about Art of the Table, I brought 10 of my friends here for my 40th birthday dinner. I spoke to the staff on the phone in advance a couple times and they were very helpful with one of my guests who has a dairy allergy. We sat at the communal table and enjoyed the windows being open on a sunny evening. Our waiter, Luke, was hilarious and kept us informed and festive the whole meal. He brought me a special drink on the house for my birthday and made sure everyone's meal was terrific. Most of us had the food and wine pairing, which was a really nice way to experince the meal.

I've been to Herb Farm before and enjoyed a similar food and wine event there but what I love about Art of the Table is that all the food is fresh, sustainable, delicious and at a reasonable price. The dinner was about $75 and the wine pairing was an extra $45 (I believe). The best part for me is that it's a casual atmosphere. A few of us had on jeans and we fit right in.

Art of the Table is Seattle at its best - amazing food, terrific wine, and a fabulous ambience that is truly the best of the Northwest.

“A wonderful evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2012

We ate here for my birthday and shared a table with the chef/owner's parents. He comes out and introduces each course, and the sommelier/hostess explains the wines. Everything was out of this world delicious, and it was fun to sit at the communal table. There are private tables as well. I think there's only one seating on Fridays and Saturdays, and then small plates on Mondays and Thursdays, but they may have changed this recently. We definitely look forward to going back on another special occasion.

“Worth finding this small restaurant for unusual preparation of great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2012

This is a small restaurant carved out of an odd storefront space, but the food was great, as was the service. We were there on only their second time for being open on Sunday, so it wasn't completely full, expecially as the evening progressed. They have the option of a tasting menu which was tempting, as everything sounded interesting on the menu, but we chose to do ala carte selections and all three of us were very happy with our choices. The server went back to the chef to help with a wine selection as we had both fish and meat (braised beef tongue that was unique and delicious) choices and his suggestion was spot on! A few of the seats are at a bar in front of the kitchen which I'm sure would be fun to watch.
