“Best Salami Sandwich I have ever had”
Reviewed 12 July 2012

First, let me make this clear. This is the best salami sandwich you will ever eat (unless you prefer the flavors of Oscar Meyer). Truthfully, in Italy you will find better Salame and Prosciutto, but it will not be served as a sandwich. This sandwich is made with fresh mozzarella made in the store and salami that is simply delicious. They take the fine ciabatta roll and coat it in two different types of seasoned aioli. To truly appreciate the sandwich just get the aioli, salami, and cheese and enjoy the flavors.

The meatball sandwich is excellent too. Big homemade meatballs and fresh sauce make this a wonderful treat.

Now for all the people who show up when the food is sold out and complain, come on get with the program. If you want to be guaranteed your food will be here, get here when they open and not an hour before close.

For those who want assurances a restaurant will have their choice in stock, may I suggest Subway. They keep extra meat in body bags in the freezer in case they run out. Understand, you simply can't instantly whip up more Salami. It has to be cured and since Salume cures their own meat and don't purchase it from Sysco Food Services, it's possible they will run out. Deal with it!

I love this place and I visit it everytime I am in Seattle.

“we obviously ordered incorrectly”
Reviewed 30 June 2012

After reading the Trip Advisor reviews, we were confident we had made the right choice for a Friday lunch. The line was not long - but extremely slow moving. As we worked our way inside, one-by-one the sandwich selections were being labeled as "sold out". That should have been our first sign. But since Salumi is known for its cured meats, we were still feeling good about our selection which was the sampler platter - a selection of meats, cheese, olives and bread. We found the meats salty with very little to distinguish them from each other, except spiciness. The cheese selection was strong and competed with the meats, instead of complimenting them. The people in line were generally in their early 20's. Maybe at 50, our palates are not as receptive to Salumi's as those of a younger generation.

Very small space, but totally worth it. When we went, we got to sit in the back kitchen private area by the meat that hangs. People can buy meat and come in and rub spices on it every once in a while while it cures. Our waiter was trained in opera and sang for us. AMAZING!

“Delicious”

There's a line. It's worth it, but be prepared. Sending one person to pick up lunch for everybody is definitely the way to go.
