Stayed here 4 nights - first night was a 1 star but the others were so good it made it to 5 stars in my book.

First night we were stuck in a room with a drunk 50-60 year old man who had been drinking whiskey and smoking until he stumbled in at 12:30am, peeking in everyone's privacy curtains, turning on the main room light, gobbing off at everyone and finally coma-ing in a choking, gurgling, deafening snore that required be to resort to a 3am sleeping pill.

In the morning I informed the guy at the front desk and he moved us to a LOVELY room, overlooking Pike Place Market with a big window, and he was so nice he actually helped to move all our bags and strip the bed (we tipped because of the service which is rare in a hostel).

The rest of our stay was a delight with all of the staff being very friendly, genuine, helpful. The Pub Crawl hosted by Sascha was a huge highlight especially going to Kurt Cobain's last known spot seen alive in public and other local dives - AWESOME.

The free breakfasts were great, we made heaps of friends, and the free dinners (not every night) were unbelievably good with lots of variety and large portions. Stoked.

The Queen bunks are surprisingly comfy and even my girlfriend was cool with it and she isn't used to hostel stays.

The location of course can't be beat - it's really great. A 5-10 min walk to the Convention Centre (we had a con on), lots of great eateries in the vicinity and coffee shops - and quick walk to monorail and only a stumble to pike place market and the waterfront aquarium/ferries etc.

If you aren't used to non-ensuite bathrooms - don't sweat it - the bathrooms are private and spacious and clean.

Overall this was an absolute highlight of our trip and would stay here again.

Room Tip: If you have a nasty snorer or plague-ridden roomy, don't suffer in silence - ask to be moved, the staff are obliging.

The location of this hostel was fantastic and it attracted a variety of different kinds of travellers- young people, business men, families... etc. The rooms were definitely too small, however each bed had it's own curtain (on a rail), power socket and reading lamp which certainly made up for the tight squeeze! The kitchen was pretty good, and guests were allowed free pancake mix! The social room was generally lively at night and I found it very easy to meet people. The staff were sometimes a little bit strict on noise, but I guess they have to be and they were generally nice! All in all, I had a fantastic stay and will go back next time I go to Seattle.

Really enjoyed staying here. Location can't be beaten as its right across from the market and Seattle is pretty walkable in general. Great rooms with comfy beds and curtains you can draw with huge lockers underneath. only downside here I guess is if you can't fit your bag here it would create a bit of a logistical issue in the room. Free dinner 3 nights a week and who can say no to that! Only thing I wish were for slightly more activities going on in terms of city tours but I guess out was just winter down time and more goes on on the city in general as well. But I would definitely stay here again.

Book this hostel - trust me.

Food
The included breakfasts are delicious (make your own pancakes, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, toast, bagels, and even brownies), provided dinner was spaghetti, garlic bread, steamed veggies, with a veggie sauce that you could add ground beef to if you wanted. There was a "food for sharing" corner in the kitchen, where you can grab a random snack, which is nice.

Rooms / Location
The rooms faced the street (main street toward the Market) so that can get kinda loud, but it's downtown and to be expected. No elevators, just keep that in mind. It's right above a coffee shop, and across the street from the Hard Rock Cafe. Couldn't ask for a better location to base your Seattle stay - next to the Market, and the travel hub of Westlake (transfer for monorail to the Seattle Center, Light Rail to the airport, and buses around downtown). Bring your own padlock (or rent one) - under bed lockers are huge and will fit whole suitcases. Privacy curtains for the beds were a huge plus. Was blown away by how nice and clean the private bathrooms were - and there were plenty, so I never had to wait to shower.

Staff / Activities
We did the Sunday night pub crawl to Capitol Hill area. A bit of a hike, but worth it when you get there. A great way to get to know people staying at the hostel, and although the bars were nothing like what I expected, it was definitely a blast. Staff is friendly and helpful, and they have some area guides that are really helpful for getting around.

I can't wait to come back - thanks for everything!
