“Great Location!”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

This was my first trip to the Big Island and was using Marriott hotel certificates so I chose this hotel. The room was fairly good sized and very clean. Our water view was semi-obstructed, but it was still good to be able to sit on the balcony and enjoy it! A little disappointed there were not screens on the sliding glass door as it would have been nice to keep the door open for a bit in the evening.

The pool is nicely situated and a decent size...thankfully it wasn't crowded when we were there! The water activities seemed very nice, although we opted to go elsewhere for our snorkeling.

The staff was very accomodating and helpful which is always appreciated. The business center and boarding pass computers were very helpful!

We didn't sample the restaurant but the location seemed nice!

Adequate parking was available which is always a good thing!

Lastly, I love that there is an ABC store connected...you just cannot beat that!

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a room with water view or water front...closer to the water than the parking lot...

We had an enjoyable stay at the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. Our room was spacious, clean and tidy and the king size bed very comfortable. There were block out screens on the sliding door to the balcony which worked a treat and kept the sun from shinning in early in the morning. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi which was great and enabled us to keep in touch with family back home. The hotel is well located on Palani Road with a short walk to many restaurants, cafes and local specialty shops. I would definitely consider staying at the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel again.

We stayed here from April 8 - April 15. This hotel is clean, rooms are good sized, and the staff were nice. Having the free internet access was a huge help as we needed to correspond while we were there. The very best part about this hotel is it is on the quieter side of Kailua. It is within easy walking distance of all the restaurants and shops too. Parking was very handy and secure. The only improvement I would suggest for this hotel is to please expand the guest laundry. Adding more washers would help the number of guests this hotel serves. The night I needed to use it 2 of the 4 washers were in use, and the third one would not accept all the coins. Otherwise - great place - great location and we would recommend.

Room Tip: Our room faced North- Northeast - was shielded from hot afternoon sun.

We stayed at this hotel from 7 April-13 April 2012.

The hotel is excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly. The pool area was a highlight although the staff need to watch kids more closely as there was a lot of diving, bombing, splashing going on that the staff tended to ignore.

Great rooms, food, service etc. Overall very good value for money and would recommend it to anyone!

Room Tip: Depends on your budget. We faced the mountain, more money would have got a better view.

This hotel was perfect ! The location is wonderful ! Close to town where you can walk to restaurants and shops! The pier is great for fishing and getting picked up for activities . We arrived and went to our oceanfront room, it wasn't cleaned so I went back to the front desk and they apologized and gave us a new room. Kristen was very nice and helpful. We were in the West tower which is the best location. Quieter and beautiful view ! Oceanfront is worth the upgrade, make sure you are above the fourth floor . We were on the 6th .You can see dolphins, the waves, etc. Kona boys shack is right on the beach to rent kayaks and snorkel gear. We kayaked and snorkeled with wild dolphins right behind the hotel ! The beach is nice white sand and the pool was real nice. We never ate at the hotel restaurant but walked to town and ate breakfast and dinners there. Tantes has a $5 breakfast ! Fish hopper and Splashers is good. We also went to waikaloa for dinner a few times. You don't need a car but it's nice to have to go to Walmart, Kmart, grocery store etc. We bought cereal, milk, fruit etc for breakfast . The refrigerator is a nice size and coffee was replaced everyday . We had a smell in our refrigerator and we called front desk, they sent someone up right away and gave us a different one. Every time we needed more towels, the maids were so nice and gave us what we needed. Overall this was one of the best places I have stayed and when we come back , we will stay here again ! The hotel was beautifully renovated and had a gorgeous lobby. The beds were very comfortable and many pillows were so nice! The staff were so nice and helpful ! Try to do the fair wind snorkel cruise it was amazing ! Only complaints are : microwave needed in rooms, bathtub doesn't drain well and the bathroom door needs a lock . Screen door on balcony would have been nice also.
