I remember reading all the reviews before I booked our stay at Roughley Manor and thought how could this place not have one bad review. I now understand. Roughley Manor is a very special place. My mother and I came out to visit family and found this to be truly the best place we have ever stayed. There are so many reasons Roughley Manor rates at the top of our list:

Accomodations - we stayed in the Cholla Suite. A completely well-appointed suite with everything you could ever need. There were two large queen sized beds with luxury linens. A kitchen with microwave, fridge, sink, and plenty of counter space to spread out all of our stuff. The bathroom even had hardwood floors and fluffy towels - just wonderful! The suite was huge and very clean - we are neat freaks and we felt just as comfortable as being in our own homes.

Food - the breakfasts were amazing. We stayed three nights and each breakfast was always so delicious. Breakfast was served outside before the heat became an issue - we were there in the summer. The patio was splendid with a wonderful fountain in the middle surrounded by large palms that provided ample shade. Fresh coffee and juice were waiting and the LA Times for each guest. Favorite breakfast for me was a breakfast panini and my mom loved the french toast.

Jan & Gary - they are the owners and cooks and what lovely people they are. They were very kind to us and made sure our stay was comfortable. They are a great team making sure everything runs smoothly. You can tell they love what they do.

Landscape - Roughley Manor is smack dab in the middle of the desert but you would never know it. Jan and Gary have gone to great detail to make sure there spots all over the property for shade and relaxing including a lovely gazebo area. The flora and fauna definitely add to the charm of this place. A nice pool area provides a respite from the desert heat as well. There are some incredible desert views.

I tried to think of one negative about this place but there just wasn't one. You will not be disappointed if you stay here - this place is amazing!

Myself and my girlfriend booked a one night stay at the Roughley Manor and opted to stay in the Museum room - which is one of many rooms and out-buildings available at the B&B. We were over the moon to say the least. The Museum room is a 1 bedroom apartment, which is decked out in classic interiors and has a very homely feel to it. The layout is very open planned and this makes the whole apartment feel incredibly spacious. The Museum room has an open living room (complete with two double sofas) and a very cosy bed which easily accomodates two persons. The bathroom is also well decorated and has a great shower / bath depending on your preference.

For me, the biggest wow factor of this particular apartment is the outside. If you have the pleasure of staying in the Museum room, you will be presented with an outside area which comes with a decent sized table and chairs and a view of the entire desert. Actually, not only a view of the desert, let's just say the desert is your back garden!

We were also very pleased to see how good the owners were to have kitted the place out with everything you need for a relaxing stay: cosy towels, complimentary shower gels, chilled bottles of water and all the kitchen accessories you could possibly need.

Another talking point of our stay at the Roughley Manor was the breakfast in the morning. Served between 8am - 9am, we had the pleasure of tasting Jan's home-cooked peach and pecan French toast with crispy maple bacon which was quite simply one of the yummiest things we have ever had. Complete with a copy of the LA Times, fresh orange juice and either tea / coffee, the breakfast is well worth getting up for!

The owners Gary and Jan are very lovely people and were incredibly helpful and accommodating at all times.

You will also be pleased to hear the Roughley Manor has a wonderful swimming pool and hot tub available within the grounds, so you can cool off in the midday sun.

I can happily say this is one of the best and idyllic places I have ever stayed in and can only describe it as 'Paradise in the Desert.'

The only downside to our stay was the fact we had only booked one night...our bad!

Delicious breakfast in the beautiful garden. We watched the stars at night. The room has many romantic details. Nothing to compare with a normal hotel. It is very homy and cozy. Our hosts and the whole atmosphere was very relaxed. The style reminds us to Tuscany, Italy. The best stay we had so far during the last 3 weeks.

Room Tip: We liked the museum room more than the pool bungalow. We had a look at both. Of course this is subje...

Eight of us stayed at the Roughley Manor. We were in town for my daughter's graduation. It was a beautiful place to be with family. It was so peaceful and is truly an oasis in this town. It was as if we all had a little house; it was such a different feel from sharing a hotel room. Thank you.

My husband and I were travelling through the US and spent 2 days at this wonderful spot. We had "Sunrise room" which is indeed a little house adjacent to another one but with ful privacy. It was very comfortable furnished, with kitchenette and a private veranda. More very good hotel-standard than an ordinary b& b. You could sit in diverse places in the shadow under big trees and watch the birds or nice Sam (the dog) or just listen to wind. Very relaxing. In the morning we got an outstanding breakfast in the garden. Gary and his wife made us feel welcome and comfortable.
