The Der Waldhof surpasses expectations in every way. We had left it late to book accommodation & were lucky to find this gem of a hotel. Its location just on the edge of town might possibly expain why it featured availability but it is not an arduous walk and staff ensure their taxis works to their guest's convenience.
The rooms were tastefully modern, bright with gorgeous views of the valley. The food really delicious and imaginative with Head Chef & hotel owner Michael in the dining room at some point during diner to greet guests and discuss the ingredients. All staff members were friendly and welcoming and the owners taking care personally to ensure every need catered for. Even bags of ice were regularly sent up to our rooms for one our parties damaged knee.
This hotel deserves to be fully booked for the forseable future - we are planning our return!

Room Tip: Ask for view of the valley

Last month our family stayed at Der Waldhof, and were very, very pleased by the hospitality and attention to detail Andrea and Michael showed to us during our (too short!) stay with them. They made us feel like honored guests! The food was absolutely fabulous....each course and each meal. The depth and breadth of their understanding of what it takes to be successful in their competitive business makes me sure they will be successful for many years to come. The soucing of ingredients for the food Michael prepares, the design and eco-friendly building of the Waldhof, and the dedication of the Ladner's made our stay far more than a visit to St. Anton...which by itself is memorable! Staying with the Ladners made our stay one we will not forget.

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed to be wonderful!

We loved this hotel. We had a suite with a small separate sleeping alcove in addition to the king size bed and this was ideal for coping with jet lag. The staff were helpful but unobtrusive. The food was great. The shuttle to the lifts was convenient and there was easy access to the free St Anton bus. This meant that we had the advantages of being away from the noise of the town centre and none of the disadvantages. The only one minor criticism I would make is that there is only a small communal sitting area. This hotel will be our first choice when we return to St Anton.

We were a group of 18 and had the hotel to ourselves. The food was superb, the service first class (two of our group were delayed yet were still served a full 4 course meal after midnight) and the location is not a concern. We are looking forward to returning already.

We went for dinner as we were staying locally and still had to book in the morning. A very pleasant new Hotel in the Stadle area of St Anton. It is definitely worth the short trip out of the centre. It is owned by Michael (the Chef) and Andrea who will be well known to clients of the Hospiz in nearbye St Christoph. It is a great example of a family run Austrian 4 star hotel.
The decor is clean and modern, with a pleasant bar with good house wine by the glass. The fixed menu looked classic Austrian and at €42 for 4 courses a bargain. Everything is cooked individually by the Michael. The excellent soup was fresh asparagus and as good as Austrian soups can be. The sauce accompanying the fresh Char was elegant and delicately spiced. The Tafel Spitze was the tenderest and tastiest veal. I was able to cut it with a fork (Ski injury!). There was a very intelligent twist to the Kaiser Schmarren. The service was attentive and not intrusive. The wine list was extensive and keenly priced. I chose a Sankt Laurent which was interesting and sensibly priced.
This is a recent addition to St Anton and a welcome one to the excellent culinary fare in the area. Do ring ahead early to see if the menu is to your liking and remember the house guests take precedence. I hope to return next season.
