Booked our holiday through Thompsons it was an evening flight and although our flight was only slightly delayed we arrived at about 10.30 but the owners were waiting for us and gave us a three course meal. Throughout our stay they were constantly on hand to give advice on places to visit and walk. Breakfasts were fine, dinner had to be decided upon at breakfast time which while not ideal made sense for a small family concern. The choice was limited but always well cooked and presented. Think vegetarians would struggle but Austrian cuisine is very much meat based and you should expect that. The rooms were perfectly adequate and views beautiful. Neiderau itself was a perfect base for what was intended as a walking holiday. Although the lift in the next village was closed for refurbishment as this was our first visit to the area there was more than enough walks from the top of the Neiderau lift. Would be more than happy to return to Hotel Pension Hannes again and explore walks from the new lift next year.

We returned to Niederau for our second time, our first time at Hotel Pension Hannes following the good reviews, through Thompson Holidays (who incidentally are a complete waste of time now that they have removed the in resort rep). Welcomed by Regina, who booked us into a 1st Floor room with balcony and views over the village and mountains. Reggy and her two sons, Hannes and Micheal are very visible and charming "front of house", no doubt supported by the chef and cleaning staff that add delightful touches (see photo...)

Our room would be described as basic and clean, very much as expected from this type of Austrian pension. Very adequate and regularly serviced to a very high standard. Was a very quiet location, allowing for the nearby parking for the Spar supermarket and closeness to the main valley road, though the locals racing some bikes up he valley in the early hours of weekends and bank holidays was not appreciated. Hotel was generally quiet, but were were unfortunate to have guests above us in the second week who seemed to continually bang doors and stomp around at all hours.

Breakfast and Dinner were taken in the restaurant, with breakfast being a plain buffet affair, with no variation over the two weeks (with any egg dish extra). As with other family run pensions, dinner was prompt at 6.30 p.m., and in our case we shared a table with a charming couple for the two weeks. Our only disappointment was that the second week's dinner menu was very similar to the first week's choices, and a better variation would have been appreciated. Food is good and wholesome, basic without any pretence.

This was our first visit to Austria. We arrived at the hotel at midnight after a difficult day travelling. The hotel was beautifully lit inside and out. We were made to feel so welcome as soon as we walked in the door and a big thank you to Reggi for bringing coffees and delicious apricot cake to our room after we arrived :) Our room,on the second floor overlooking the front of the hotel was very clean and spacious with flowers growing in the pots along the balcony and a lovely view of the valley The meals were traditional and we enjoyed them all, the buffet continental breakfasts were good and had plenty to offer, Evening dinner was a very social time and our table mates Mhoraig + Frank were lovely. Reggi's two sons waited on tables and nothing was a problem to them
The Hannes is in the perfect location for walkers exploring the Wildschonau valley, situated near to all transport points and best of all the gondola which takes you to the top of the Markbachjok from where you can experience spectacular mountain views and follow well signed mountain trails stopping off on your way at various huts/hostelries for a bite to eat or some liquid refreshment.
I would like to wish Reggi and her family well and have no reservations about recommending this Happy family house to future guests within the summer months.

Much was spoken about the owners hospitality in previous reviews, this wasn't apparant to me. Was allocated a spacious twin bedded that needed to be refreshed. The shower room appeared to lack approprite ventilation and had a "musty "smell. Large fluffy towels provided .Good breakfast choice but having a second cup of coffee appeared to be a problem. Vegetarian fare offered , limited choice but adequate. Ideally situated in Neiderau, close
to local supermarkets, bus stops etc. Spectacular views of distant mountains from my allocated bedroom although it did look onto a riding stable yard it added to the charm.
Was fortunate to share the dining experience with a charming couple, ir seems to be the custom in this hotel to stick to the same table throughout your stay , so it was fortunate to communicate with people sharing your table and we did.
