Couple of things to mention:
1. Wait to be seated in the dining room on your first visit, Herbert (the hotel owner) will allocate you a table and that will be your table for the duration of your stay.
2. Be prepared to share a table.
3. Fill in your menu choice for eve meal at the breakfast table.
3. Pay for your evening meal drinks separately if half board.

Family skiing holiday February 2017 half-term (x 3 people), we stayed in the newest part of the hotel, bedroom was big with 2 beds pushed together to make a Queen size and a single sofa bed (14 yr old said it was very comfortable); lots of wardrobe space; powerful, hot shower; underfloor heating in bathroom; separate toilet; balcony. Nothing like the pokey rooms you get in French resorts.

Breakfast was buffet style, same every day, however, plenty of choice, different breads, scrambled and boiled eggs, bacon, cold cheese and meat platter, Nutella, various jams, honey, cereals, large bowl of sliced fruit, large bowl of Greek yogurt, everything constantly topped up.

Evening meal was adequate, soup starter, salad buffet, choice of 3 mains (1 veggie option) and dessert (no description).

Hotel staff friendly, efficient, excellent English. Very clean. Swimming pool (decent size), hot tub, sauna (excellent) - all free.

Ski hire Centre under Hotel, open for new arrivals supposedly until 11:00 p.m - I was the last one served at 12:00 midnight - Christoph and his staff are fab with excellent English.

Hotel close to nursery slope (button lift), turn right down to Gondola which takes you up to the runs at Niederau. A local free bus (with a pass from your Rep) is just outside the hotel and takes you to full area (15 minute ride).

All in all v. good - expect plenty of T bar lifts though!

Room Tip: All have a balcony

Our room was in the new part, spacious and clean, quiet. Only soap is provided attached near the sink, so bring shower gel, shampoo etc. We really liked the dinners, but I do love Austrian food, however make sure you bring enough cash as no credit cards accepted and drinks to be paid each evening...also the bottled water is served in small 200/250ml bottles at Euro 2.20, which is quite a lot for mineral water. Other drinks are quite reasonable in comparison, e.g. a white wine spritzer (also 250 ml) is about Euro 2.40! Pool lovely, breakfast good buffet, but some incidents of sickness after eating the scrambled egg.

We stayed at the Harfenwirt on a half-board basis in half term February 2017 with our two children aged 8 and 6. The hotel is perfect for a family ski holiday. The ski hire shop is in the basement of the hotel and it stayed open late on the day of our arrival as our flight had been delayed. The boot room does get crowded in the mornings so we soon learned that it was best to get in there with the kids by 8:45am to avoid the crowds, that way we had plenty of room. For people who can already ski you can ski directly from the hotel to the ski school, for beginners like myself and our children it is a 2 minute free bus ride, but by day 3 my children and I were able to ski to and from ski school.
We were lucky to be upgraded to a premium room and it was fantastic, there was a big austrian double bed which was so incredibly comfortable and two single beds for the kids, a large balcony with a beautiful view of the valley and a large bathroom with spacious walk in shower and decent sized bath. Our room was cleaned daily and linen was changed twice during our week stay.
Breakfast was a plentiful buffet with bacon and eggs, cereals, fruit, cheeses, meats, a selection of breads, perfect for setting you up for a day on the slopes. The dinners were excellent, four courses and you chose your main course from a selection of 3 on the menu at breakfast. There was always a soup starter, a large salad buffet, main course and dessert. The food wouldn't win a michelin star but it was tasty and wholesome and we enjoyed every meal, our children often preferred to eat from the adult menu and the hotel were happy to accomodate this.
The pool was great, our kids enjoyed swimming daily, the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are only available 4-6pm but that suited us as we only used them after skiing and before dinner.
The staff were simply wonderful, always friendly, always happy, I have seen previous reviews saying people waited a long time for food and I am very surprised to read that, we didn't wait at all and I would say the service was impeccable.
Neiderau has a lot of blue runs to keep beginners like myself occupied and more thrilling red and black runs for accomplished skiers like my husband. I heard that Neiderau has a vibrant night life for those without kids who want to make the most of the apres-ski, the Harfenwirt is a short 5 minute walk from the bars in Neiderau so if you want an early night you are not disturbed by the revellers or you're close enough to walk to and from the bars if you wish.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Harfenwirt and are considering going back next year!!!!!!

We had a family ski holiday at February 1/2 term on 1/2 board. It's a large traditional hotel, nice and clean, room was a good size. Good storage room for boots/skis and lovely modern pool/sauna facilities. Breakfast is a good buffet. Can ski to gondola by crossing road in front of hotel and getting T bar lift up, then skiing down to gondola (worth noting as the walk down is a trek with your gear), alternatively free ski bus stops right outside frequently. Just a few points.... we did not find the staff friendly, or helpful, in fact some were quite rude and abrupt. They will not serve you with water at the dinner table, you have to buy bottled water. Disappointed that there are no tea/coffee making facilities in rooms and will not be supplied (I bought a local kettle from a 'pound shop' in Worgle which is the nearest town, a 20min bus ride away. It was £15, but saved us loads as hot drinks are £2- £4.50 each in hotel) the evening menu is limited, you have 3 choices, only one of which is vegetarian, so if you are veggi and dont like the option (which is predominantly made of potato or pasta) then your out of luck. The pool facility is open till 7pm, however the sauna/stream is only open from 4, and power to these is switched off at 6. We found it a toss up between apre-ski or the pool area (and also dinner is 6-8). We were actually in the shower at 7pm one evening and all the lights were just switched off! We paid a lot of money for this holiday and feel that these few 'niggles' of customer service really should be addressed.

Room Tip: some rooms are most easily accessed THROUGH the dining room but it's locked evening till breakfast. The alternative route is a trek.

Another great week at the Harfenwirt. A warm welcome awaited us and as usual the service was good, lots of good food at breakfast and dinner. The room was kept clean all week. We used the pool sauna or steam room every evening after the days skiing. The prices of drinks are quite reasonable especially compared to other areas of Austria. There are 2 ski lifts opposite the hotel and the ski bus stops right outside. We had a lovely room in the new wing which was spacious with lots of wardrobe space, a fridge and safe.
