Nice little village, that is calme enough in the evening and nights, so that you can go with families, but also enough pubs and bars, that you can enjoy with your friends. Excellent tourist attitute.

We chose Ellmau because its where me and my chikldren learned to ski. We returned so our grandchildren could enjoy the ski school.
We all had a great week our grandchildren had a great teacher in Celine who brought them on well and they are already looking forward to next year.
I though the skiing may be limited for the adults but I was wrong it was better tghan my failing memory. A low resort so i'd avoid early or late season skiing here but a resort that caters well for the whole family.

We've been coming to Ellmau every winter since February 2015. At first we were spending Christmas in the also lovely village of Niederau (some 25 minutes driving south west of Ellmau), and the February half term holiday in Ellmau. But we have come to love Ellmau so much, that from this winter we have been spending both our December and February winter holidays in Ellmau. Ellmau is a beautiful Austrian village, so typical of the Tirol area. But having seen much of this area of the Tirol from Fieberbrunn to the beautiful Wildschoenau area, we have been slowly falling in love with Ellmau. The setting is simply breathtaking with the Wilder Kaiser mountains right behind the village. The village is so pretty that it just makes us feel good every time we are there. No wonder it has been the film set for so many movies and documentaries. The skiing in SkiWelt is second to none, with hundreds of kilometres of wide pistes that just run and run. And finally the people: everyone in Ellmau makes us feel like family. And that just beats everything else. Although we have been back in England now for a week, our hearts are still in Ellmau.

What a lovely little village. Very compact but good access to other villages with a good network of lifts. Can be crowded early on but it soon settles down and there's plenty of space for everyone. Regular free ski buses running through the village all day.

The facilities are world class, the variety of ski run options from beginners through to the experts.
Wide open ski runs all perfectly groomed, to narrow winding roads for the adventurous.
The ski routes enable you to travel many kilometres to numerous restaurants/rest areas. It would take years of holidaying there to see them all.
I thought the prices in the village and on the Ski runs was great value for money, not only well priced but attention to detail, that in my opinion makes a big difference.
To not only get a good meal and a hot cappuccino when stopping for a break, but to get the coffee in a decent china mug, not some polystyrene/plastic rubbish.

Every morning turning up to the ski runs to perfectly groomed surfaces. It just starts your day off perfectly.

In the words of a famous Austrian...I'll be back"
