The hotel was conveniently placed in the pedestrianised area but backing on to a side road giving easy access. A short walk to the main lift but Zell am See is not French ski-in/ski-out dull convenience but a real town with character, charm and a general happy feel.
Room 106 was clean, comfortable and large with a balcony and lots of windows but, unfortunately, being rather in the centre of town and on the first floor, with not much of a view of the mountains.
The hotel staff were very helpful and could not do enough for you but without being pushy or obsequious. All the staff, at whatever level, were warm and friendly and just wanted us to enjoy our time here - which we did immensely.
Other local restaurants were fully booked on our first night but after phoning around for us, the hotel fitted us in to their restaurant. This was a stroke of luck as we found the food, atmosphere and service outstanding. We eat in every night afterwards.
One word of warning - the hazlenut schnapps (that smells of Nutella) after a hard day's skiing is difficult to resist!
Overall we had a fantastic break and are already talking of returning next year. I hope we can.More
