I was very pleased to find a wooden chalet to stay in on the mountains but not too far from civilisation! We could walk down into the village for food, but we were staying on the edge of the village for it to be remote enough. A fantastic base for a holiday. We managed to get out walking in different directions from the doorstep & through using the Wanderbus & Papageno Bahn. We drove a little way to get to different chair lifts & Rodelbahns. If we’d stayed longer there is PLENTY to do driving just a little further away. Fabulous
We stayed here for 10 nights and it was so enjoyable we were sad to be leaving. The chalet was well equipped and we made use of the terrace as the weather was so good. Our 2 yr old loved playing out on it. The views are amazing from the Chalet and we have fabulous memories of our dream holiday. Filzmoos has lovely restaurants and the grocery store has everything you need. We cooked a few evenings and ate out on the terrace. We will be definitely be coming back to this chalet.
Deborah is so helpful and even when our pushchair got lost at Munich Airport she was texting me with names of shops in nearby towns that sell them. Thank you Deborah for everything.
We have returned to house 1 four times now and enjoyed fabulous holidays on every occasion. The house sits above the village with a perfect view straight down the valley and out across the pistes. You really have a sense of being in the mountains.
Self catering is easy, MPreis in Filzmoos has everything you'll need as does the chalet,
We tend to dine out in the village, There is a restaurant/bar in the hotel less than a minutes walk down the hill and great eating options down in the hill. Dorf Pizzeria is best for pizza and pasta, Hotel Reithof, actually up the hill, for finer dining, Fiakerwirt for traditional fare - all great. Plus if you really want transition go on the 5 mile sleigh ride from Fiakerwirt up the valley to dine in the Ober or Unterhofalms. It is a trip into Narnia.
Another great outing is the Dachstein cable car, which is free with the local ski passes.
Most important of all the skiing is great, the slopes come straight down in to the village and in all our visits in February and March the snow has been good to great. It is the perfect place for beginners and has enough challenge for the more advanced. For them other slopes in Schladming and Haus are easily accessible by car. Visit in January for full taste of Alpine snow and deep freeze!
The locals are friendly and welcoming and the owners Deborah and Paul ensure the experience in the chalets is seamless.
We had a very nice stay in Haus Ebner. The Chalet is on a very quiet street above the town. It is comfortable and the small kitchen is well equipped. It is a mountain cabin and has been well used by many visitors. There was no TV service as advertised but we were informed in advance and had no problem with that. The owner was readily available for our questions and very prompt and flexible. We really appreciated having the hiking map which we made good use of. A good value overall.

Excellent service from the owner Deborah, which included helping us will our heavy shopping from the local supermarket that opens daily, including Sundays up to midday. The chalet is ideal for a family/couples and is situated up hill on the outskirts of Filzmoos. Great eating places from a pizza to a 2 Michelin Star restaurant. There is a very good Wanderbus service that covers the local area. Trips by local taxi firm Jager can be booked to places of interest including Salzburg an hour away. Guided walks are available, or like us you can plan your own.. Twice a week, weather permitting a cable car ride will take you to the top of the mountain. One thing we stumbled upon our first day there was all shops etc close for lunch between 12 and 2pm. We spent two weeks exploring the area and had a great time, and have already recommended Deborah's chalet to family members and friends.
