Practically at the junction of routes 385 and 16 this hotel was located just outside of the "busy" area of Custer.Stayed two nights and used it as a hub to see the nearby sites. Large parking lot and easy entrance and exit onto the main road. No traffic sounds and quiet. Set against a beautiful natural formation of jutting rocks.

It was very clean and modern, though they told us it was not "new." The bedroom was a good size and the bathroom large. Hot water...and pressure in the shower was great. An extra was the screen in the window and the window could be opened for fresh air. There was a refrigerator with a temperature controlled freezer and of course the usual amenities of four pillows, soft beds, desk, chair, TV etc.

Breakfast room served the usual heavily processed foods, with fruits, yogurt, etc. Plenty of seating. Swimming pool hot tub, small exercise room, outdoor seating with tables, etc. A chain hotel with identical offerings as the next one.

Restaurants and gas-stations nearby. A plus.

Hotels in the area were filled. We were there in September and Comfort Inn had only two rooms left for the evening...so call ahead for a reservation and assure yourself a place to stay in Custer.

We stayed here three nights in early September as part of our "tour of the Dakota's" vacation. The highlights of what we saw when based at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Custer were Wind Cave, Jewel Cave and the Mammoth Site. The hotel itself worked well for us. We had a fridge and a microwave in the room. Breakfast was included and was quite good. We slept well and also were able to take care of some laundry. There is no restaurant, but one can walk to a restaurant or two across the street or drive a couple of miles into Custer for a really good dinner. (The Buglin' Bull in town was excellent - the place across the street, no-so-much). Folks with kids will find the mini-golf course out front handy. There is also a very tacky 3 story plastic pink dinosaur across the street, but it is not harming anyone, so I won't say anything further about that.

Had a great room and they serve amazing coffee all day long! Woke up to a great breakfast, so glad we stayed here! A deer visited our car in the parking lot! A great value for sure! We will be back just for the coffee alone!

Room Tip: Come for the coffee!

This property is located right on a main drag through Custer with close proximity to restaurants & shops. The exterior of the property has been kept up nicely and has a very welcoming appeal. The staff was friendly at check in and were happy to suggest the best places to eat. The room itself was very clean with plenty of room to spread out and move around. The bed was very comfortable and had plenty of pillow options. The pool and hot tub were nice, although the hot tub is a bit small if you have more than a few people in your group. The breakfast area was very spacious and offered a variety of options to satisfy just about everyone. I felt the price was very reasonable considering all the accommodations and amenities offered. Overall I was very pleased with our stay and would highly recommend this property to others passing through the area.

We stayed here one night on a family road trip and were grateful for the very clean room with comfortable beds. The kids were ecstatic over the remarkably large pool and had we were all pleased with the many breakfast offerings (the maple cinnamon waffles were a big hit). The staff was friendly and professional. We would definitely stay here again if we're in the area.
