As we wanted to see a bit more of Northern Guatemala (ie: the main tourist route is Flores-Tikal-Flores) and thats it, we believed that there was more to see of Peten. And how that was true! Orignally we planned to stay for one night but after experiencing Villa Benjamin for 1 night, we knew that we didnt want to leave in a hurry!
Theres so much to do. A highlight was travelling into the forest (Reserva Biosfera de Maya) and visiting the projects of the Asociacion Forestal Integral de San Andres Peten AFISAP, with which Villa Benjamin has a unique partnership with them. An experience that made us genuinely reflect where i was!
On the relaxing side of affairs, well, just wait until you look out over the lake. They promote themselves as having the best view in all of the lake region, and we all agreed! The beach is a matter of walking a set of stairs! and you will mistake yourself for being on the Caribbean coast!
The food was sensational everytime and better priced than in Flores. And the cocktails were always a treat!
All in all, we loved Villa Benjamin and we are recommending it to everyone that we know or meet in Guatemala and Central America, and we hope to return soon!
