Been reading reviews and curious as to if construction will still be in front of the hotel for my reservations over Thanksgiving week. I contacted the hotel directly and was told they do not know.....

Dear Kim,

We’re looking forward to hosting you very soon, and we’re certain you’re going to have an unforgettable time here in New Orleans. While we cannot make any guarantees about the status of the city’s improvement project, we’re hopeful that our block will be completed prior to Thanksgiving week. Feel free to give us a call directly if you’d like to request a specific room type or location, as many of our guests have commented that they forget the construction is taking place outside once they’re in their rooms. We can’t wait to welcome you!

Sincerely,

Alfred L. Groos

This hotel has a great location and a wonderful staff. Our room faced the pool and we did not hear any noise from Bourbon Street. It was an easy walk to the WWII Museum, French Quarter restaurants and street car stops. I highly recommend the Royal Sonesta.

Due to the construction on Bourbon Street, an airport shuttle dropped us off several blocks from the hotel. It was a challenge to navigate the streets with luggage, especially because there was a fence that prohibited crossing the street. The hotel staff told us the shuttle could have left us much closer, such as in the hotel parking lot.

Nice hotel and great staff. Loved the oyster bar. Only drawback was construction on Bourbon Street would stay here again most definitely & bring friends back with us. The city is great and so are the people

Despite the construction which made it a bit difficult to access by car, the hotel was gorgeous. It will be perfect once construction is completed. It was our anniversary and they gave us a free bottle of champagne and upgraded us to a balcony room facing Bourbon street which was a nice touch

This hotel is right on Bourbon street. Yes, they are digging up Bourbon Street right in front of the hotel. Ask for an interior room facing the courtyard or elsewhere. This hotel has old world charm. Started out in a 2-level suite but it smelled a little mildew and it was a little dark. Nice concept. Very quiet and private but I just could not get past the smell. We were moved without argument to a room that had a huge private balcony that faced Royal St. You could see clear to the river from there. They sent up a bottle of champagne and all was just lovely. We spent the extra money be on the Concierge level. Great happy hour. Breakfast and evening hor d'oeuvres included.

I give the hotel 3.5 for their rooms but I give them 5++ in customer service. The rooms are a tad bit dated but they make up for any short comings in spades with their Customer Service. Brandy and Chantel at the front desk you rock. I cannot remember the lady that worked in the R Level Club but she was just phenomenal. Every person we encountered that worked in that hotel greeted us with a smile and a hello. I would definitely stay there again. Thanks Royal Sonesta for making my first trip to NOLA a memorable one.
