Although the construction and renovation of the hotel makes getting a room some what harder than it will be (they are roughly at one half capacity.) the new room was charming, and the design was inspired. Let me recommend the spiral staircase two floor suite with the top floor overlooking the pool . The bottom rooms bedroom offers comfort and privacy. My wife and I have become great fans of the Royal Sonesta chain chiefly because of this French Quarter Flagship hotel. If you are looking for romance this is the location. This may be the most Romantic Lodging in the entire United States.

Service is excellent here. We just arrived a few minutes ago but we got situated smoothly to our room. The excellent service started out while Annie took her time to guide us to the hotel since we had to take a different turn and went a bit farther than we should. Kenneth with the valet staff helped us unload our things and took care of our car and parking. Matthew, who checked us in was very professional and friendly. And Wade took us to our room and helped us familiarize ourselves with hotel and the surroundings. My request is to please recognize these hotel staff for the good work they have done for their customers tonight because we're sure they will be lore than willing to do the same thing to your other customers on other days. Thank you for training your staff in the proper way of delivering customer service.

We had higher expectations for this hotel vs. the other boutiques in NOLA. While they did provide the wrong room type when we arrived, after it was confirmed twice before arriving, they made good on the room requirements and were more than happy with what we ended up with. They manage the hotel well, as I had hoped, which isn't easy being as big as they are, and also facing one of the business locations on Bourbon Street. It is central to everything. No shop, restaurant, or attraction is more than a 15 min walk away. It's like it's the center of the FQ universe there. Inner courtyard is very enjoyable and quiet if you need away from the craziness of Bourbon. It's also the more expensive option. So it's a trade off for quality (and that's quality relative to the French Quarter only, which has it's own standard).

My room was on the third floor above Bourbon Street. If you are on Bourbon Street you must have earplugs if you ever expect to sleep. This street appears to never sleep. There is non stop partying.
The room was not spacious. It was recently remodeled. They were remodeling the entire hotel during my stay. This is more of a chain type motel and the accommodations and staff are solicitious.

Room tip: If you want to be able to sleep, do not get a room on the street, especially Bourbon Street.

Thank you for your recent response regarding your stay here at the Royal Sonesta New Orleans. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your feedback. Please keep in mind that only about 15% of our guest rooms are street-facing, and the majority of our courtyard and pool-facing rooms on higher levels are surprisingly very quiet. On your future travels, we hope you will consider one of our Sonesta Collection hotels located throughout the United States.

We really enjoyed our 4-night stay for a class reunion. The hotel is beautiful...the lobby, courtyards, and public areas are elegant, yet comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly. Our third floor room was just off the corner of Bourbon and Conti with a shared, wrap around balcony. The room itself was spacious, well designed, and clean. We loved the constant rhythm of the city. If you are a light sleeper, beware, earplugs may not be enough.
Two minor points: the Wi-Fi coverage is poor and very frustrating. No Wi-Fi would have been better. Second, though it's a matter of taste, we didn't like the unsupportive pillows.

Room tip: A courtyard room should be quieter. Closer to the lobby may also get you better Wi-Fi.
