Great old hotel. Member of Preferred group so expected great service. Disappointing service, unhelpful staff all around except for concierge Anita who was terrific.

This is a lovely hotel. Previously, my husband and I have stayed at both the Loews and the Marriott Convention Center, which we enjoyed. But there is something special about the Monteleone. Our room on the 11th floor, while not extremely large, was adequate in size and furnished quite nicely in a traditional fashion. The bathroom was on the small size, but immaculate. Housekeeping was wonderful, and even provided evening turn down service. You must visit the Carousel Bar. We were there during the French Quarter Fest and the bar, as well as the hotel, was hopping. The location for the Fest can't be beat. I found the staff pleasant, but a little less than stellar. The front desk gal could not locate a shop on Royal Street only a few block s from the hotel, and the concierge advised me against taking the streetcar to the 3500 block of Canal Street (she suggested taking a taxi for safety, during the noon hours), which was rather silly as the area was perfectly safe. I didn't sample any of the hotel's dining options but the restaurant was doing a brisk breakfast business. The roof top pool as well as evening entertainment in the lounge are nice pluses. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

I got to stay and play while my sister attended a conference in this wonderful hotel, in this wonderful city. The hotel was the perfect location for walking everywhere in the French Quarter and the wonderful sign that could be seen towering above the other buildings made it so easy to find my way back. The room was a bit small but very nicely decorated with great black out curtains if you need to sleep in! Didn't make it to the pool but heard it was great. I would certaiinly go back.

Room Tip: The higher you go, the quieter it will be.

Stayed here for 4 nights . Chose the Monteleone specifically for that "Old French Quarter" Gilded Age Romanticism and was not disappointed. Well, OK, was disappointed in the extremely tiny bathrooms , but overall the hotel is magnificent. Take a stroll around The Lobby and be transported back in time. Marvel at the noble Grandfather Clock. and make sure you visit the rooftop pool for the views, even if you don't swim. Try their signature coffee, available in the hotel "Logo Shop". It is blended and roasted in New Orleans. I liked it so much I had to buy some to take home with me.

I was here for a convention. The staff seemed very professional and accommodating, although I didn't use many services. The parking was pretty expensive, I think it was $30+ a night. As with many historic hotels, the room and bath was on the smaller side but it was nice. The location was good, convenient to walk many places. The Carousel Bar is fun, but it was always crowded and service was generally pretty slow. I snagged a seat on a Tuesday evening and went an entire revolution (the seats actually revolve very slowly around the bar) before managing to get the attention of a bartender and order a drink. Overall though a nice classic place to stay.

Room Tip: Higher floors have beautiful city views.
