Description: Shaya is an innovative restaurant with a warm and welcoming approach to the dining culture inspired by Chef Alon Shaya's Israeli upbringing. Chef Alon sees modern Israeli food as a grand mosaic, drawing influence from North Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Turkey and Greece. The food of Alon's heritage represents a country rich in diversity of cuisine and culture, inspired by years of tradition while also looking to its contemporary future. The menu at Shaya reflects the ongoing evolution of Israeli food, while celebrating the abundance of Louisiana and Alon's close relationships with local farmers, which he has fostered through his ongoing work with the Crescent City Farmer's Market. In keeping with the the ethos of all of the Besh restaurants, Shaya uses seasonal, responsibly- and locally-sourced ingredients.

What a wonderful way to take traditional Israeli dishes and give them a good 'ol NOLA spin. Shakshouka with spicy shrimp, YES PLEASE. Smooth and creamy curry cauliflower hummus with caramelized onions? ALSO YES. Fantastic falafel & delicious kebabs. The wine list was thoughtful with a well chosen selection that truly enhanced the dishes. Homemade pitas and zaatar also a lovely touch- just don't go overboard, you need to leave room. I love that you can take a small dish approach here and sample several tasty items. Service and ambiance also perfect.

what hummus tasted like, you will be propelled into an entire range of new exquisite flavors and textures of this Mediterranean staple at Shaya. The nuanced, delicate and exciting flavors and fragrances found in all our dishes, including the superb pita bread , made this one of our best NOLA meals ever. We have dined at each of this chef's restaurants, (Alon Shaya, a new James Beard award winner) and while each is terrific, this wins my favorite award. Be sure to try lots of the for-the-table offerings and don't miss the Persian rice. The milk and honey dessert is spectacular. We are planning our next food adventure here.

Shaya has hit the NOLA dining scene like a tornado. New flavors and dishes have pushed the envelope for diners. Lots of small plates of intense flavors for table sharing give the diners a wonderful introduction to Middle East cuisine. It also is an attractive place with very professional service

The food, ambiance, service...EVERYTHING about Shaya was amazing. I'm not exaggerating when I say the pita was the best I've ever had. The hummus, lebna, babaganouj, falafel - all of the food was great. If you like Mediterranean food, this is where you should go in NOLA!

Maybe the best middle eastern ( etc.) food I have had anywhere.
An eclectic menu with stylish presentation. Exceptionally knowledgeable and pleasant service. We popped in on a total whim and were blown away.
Great restaurant in a great restaurant town.
