We had the benefit of meeting Scott and staying here. It is a very clean place and we felt secure the whole time. He was gracious enough to run us out to an interesting cemetery that we wouldn't have been able to navigate by bus and gave us some information on the customs as well as some info about Katrina. We really appreciated your generous spirit Scott, all the best. Quiet stay with a slice of excitement as a movie Treme was being shot in front of and around the corner to the place. Beds were super comfortable and easy walk to quarter.
Thanks again!

Ingram Haus offers something any traveler weary of hotel rooms most appreciates: no intrusions by maids, no lobby to cross and recross, no annoying waits for the elevator. Instead the hotel offers (or I got since I didn't see the other rooms) suites, in my case, a living room, bedroom, kitchen (New Orleans shotgun style) and a bathroom (shower, no tub). If you are staying for just a few days, and if you aren't a pig on the road, then this is ideal: no one knocking at the door when you want privacy, lots of room to spread out so you don't feel the need to leave the room whenever possible, your time, not tour time.

Downsides include the thump thump thump base notes from nearby bars (bring ear plugs), low water pressure in the bathroom, and no wifi in the annex. If on the other hand you like the proximity of a good bar or two, they are right outside the door and across the street. And I was able to use the wifi signal from one of them in the suite.

So, Ingram Haus has a great location in the artsy up-and-coming Marigny area, walk 10 minutes to the French Quarter, same to Treme and same to Bywater. Good restaurants are in walking distance, and those famous biegnets are about 20 fun minutes away on foot (the walk makes it easier to rationalize them). So shuck the non-essentials and try a homey, if basic, stay in NOLA.

Room Tip: I stayed in the annex which was fine, like having your own home in NOLA, but bring ear plugs. Rooms...

Ingram Haus is such a cozy place to stay. Scott Graves (the owner) makes you feel so welcome. There are several different rooms to choose from, all of which are great! It is within walking distance to the quarter and there are several great bars very near it. The John is a great little bar, but the VERY VERY VERY BEST bar ever in the whole city of New Orleans is right across the street! JohnPauls is great! The best bloody mary and the best White Russian I have ever tasted, and I have tasted a bunch! Dont miss out on this great great experience!
