This was one of the coolest hostels I've stayed. Super cheap and good meal deals. The staff were sooo laid back and easy to chat to. At night there was movies playing in the sofa room and the staff sometimes got out a piano and sung along with guests. A very very relaxed vibe which fits the New Orleans jazz scene. Room was a bit smelly and air con was very loud but this wouldn't put me off staying again. Thanks India House!

4 of us (guys aged 20-22) stayed at this hostel while visiting N/O. It was pretty affordable, around $20 dollars per night which is pretty standard. We booked through Hostel World who charge a deposit of about $30 which we didn't get back in the beginning (make sure to tell the staff that you need to get the deposit back, because the first staff member we dealt with didn't realise this). The bedrooms were pretty clean with air con, there was a nice common room with tv and a great outdoor area with a pool. There are kitchens where you can cook your own food. We didn't buy any of the hostel provided dinners. Breakfast is about $5 dollars if you want something decent (again, we bought our own breakfast separately). The best thing about this hostel though was the people. Everyone was very friendly and there was a very communal atmosphere. Great place to meet other interesting people and travellers! Also, Bourbon St and Frenchman St (which is amazing) are only a couple of minutes away in an uber!

India house hostel is honestly amazing and I would genuinely recommend it to anyone and everyone. The hostel is so cool and very welcoming, there is always music playing in the common areas and the staff are super helpful, especially Regal. We stayed next door but didn't feel separate at all which was great also loved the breakfast on offer. Plus the hostels information, recommendations and knowledge of Nola and the things to do there was great. Amazing location near the streetcars, to go any direction and we loved the pool and the beer fridges!!

We only stayed for one night, but we would definitely come back. This hostel has options for dormitory or single room customers. We chose to have a private room and private bathroom with towels and sheets included. The room was clean and basic with its own bathroom: toilet and shower. The community spaces are charming and quirky. Their is a courtyard with a pretty garden, an outdoor kitchen area where you can purchase a "Backpacker's Breakfast" or dinner, and an indoor kitchen where you can make and/or store your own food. The staff was friendly and the binder of New Orleans places to visit was helpful. Our fellow guests were friendly as well. There is an outdoor pool for those who like to swim. We stayed in a non-smoking building, but people were smoking in the courtyard, so if smoke is a problem for you, that is something to consider. The hotel is conveniently located near a streetcar line, so it is easy to get to all the tourist areas.

Great place to drop in. Wish we could have stayed for a few days longer. Outdoor and indoor tables, multiple fridges and storage space for food. Pool was just what we needed after a day in the quarter. Only issue is parking, is only available on the street and is hard to find a spot nearby.

Room Tip: Stayed in a double room. If you want to privacy, book a room like this.

We're glad you had a great time. Parking has never really been an issue. We do however have some off street parking, plus there's normally plenty on the street. You must have been unlucky. Sorry. Hope to see you again soon. Happy travels.
