Nita and her staff provided an absolutely fabulous cooking experience for our group! From the start it was a very relaxed setting and so easy to follow! I have a wide range in ages with my kids and struggle sometimes with activities to please across the board...this class fit the bill! When the kids are asked what was the highlight of their trip to NOLA, they always reply 'the cooking class' first! It was fun, informative, and delicious!! I highly recommend CCC!!
My self and a girlfriend had a private class with Scott, he was very personable, he went step by step with what we chose to make, since we booked the class first we got to choose what we wanted to make. which was gumbo, BBQ Shrimp and pecan pie, the BBQ shrimp is not what you think it would be it iis shrimp cooked in a sauce, quite yummy. While you are preparing the food there was appitizers and your choice of red or white wine. But here is the best part we able to bring the food home, they froze the gumbo put it in a insulated bag, which was really nice by the way and were able to take it home on the plane. which surprised me. the class was quite fun!
Every one from Holly, who took our booking request to Scott, our chef/instructor, made us feel welcome and appreciated. Although we took a demonstration class, not a hands-on class, we felt like a part of the experience.
Scott encouraged our small, intimate group to come up to the work-top, cooking area for a closer view. He created some very tasty dishes while educating us on the finer points of Creole cooking. The results were there in the delicious lunch that was included in the price of the class.
I will definitely recommend Crescent City Cooks to our friends visiting New Orleans.
My friends and I decided to take a cooking demo class on one of our last days in NOLA. It was one of the best things we did on the entire trip. We were comfortably seated in a nice air-conditioned room and given our choice of beverages. The instructor was very knowledgeable and funny! He demonstrated how to make bread pudding (bananas foster style), jambalaya, and gumbo. We were able to enjoy very generous portions of everything. During all this, another lady was constantly refilling our drinks and making sure we had everything we needed. The instructor taught us how to cook everything and gave us so much fun historical trivia as well. My sister will be visiting NOLA in a few weeks with her friends and I plan on putting this on her "Must-do" list.
I honestly cannot believe I haven't taken one of these classes on a previous visit. Chef was fantastic, and offers some history of the city and evolution of cooking. No matter the menu while you're visiting, just sign up and take the class. It is entirely worth the time and the food is fantastic!
We liked the experience so much we went twice. The teachers were very knowledgeable and made the demo classes fun and entertaining. I learned a lot about Louisiana cooking. The food was delicious. Even though it wasn't hands on, I feel like I could make the dishes and I will. My favorite was the red beans and rice.
