We booked a cooking class at this reputable cooking school on our visit in February and we were certainly not disappointed. Recommend doing this one of the first days you visit New Orleans. The staff are very informative, knowledgable of the history of the area and of how the different foods came to be! Family run school. So lots of funny stories of family and of people who settled the New Orlean area. We did a morning class and loved the lunch that we watched being made -Shrimp Creole and Chicken and Andjoule Gumbo with Banana Foster for dessert! Portions are large. Great experience and would definitely do it again! Gift store is reasonably priced and picked up quite a few gifts - ( not just the touristy gifts you can find everywhere )for family. LOVED IT!!!
We were four women on a "girls" trip for our annual trip to New Orleans. We are always looking for different things to do. One off the women had done this and really didn't mind doing it again. This is a cooking class where we watched the chef, Scott, prepare shrimp creole, chicken fracassee and bread pudding which were all delicious. He was funny and told many interesting stories while cooking. And we were also given pralines which might be the best in the city. The owner, Nita, also participated and was delightful. I definitely recommend this one.
This class is amazing. Even if you have no interest in learning to cook, the demonstration in fun and informative and the food is AMAZING. Loved the shop and everything in it, loved Cheve our instructor, loved Nita the owner and loved eating gumbo, shrimp Creole, bananas foster and fresh pralines.
This was a great way to spend a morning! The class was fun and informative. I was handed the recipes as I walked in which let me just soak up the fun commentary without trying to write notes. I took the class by myself and would highly recommend! The location is also very easy to get to on the corner of Chartres and Iberville. Plus, the food was excellent!
Scott was very good. The three of us went, and it was pretty much a private class for us. We had a lot of fun. The experience was great, and we had fun. The experience is suitable for beginners and more experienced home cooks.
This was a very enjoyable experience. We did the Sunday brunch and learned to make barbeque shrimp and grits, crescent city eggs tasso, red bean cakes, and bananas foster.
Our instructor was very involved and seemed to thoroughly enjoy what he was doing. He was very informative and took time to answer all questions and gave many tips about the spices and other ingredients.
We also got to eat what he prepared so that was an added treat!
Will definitely recommend this.
