The Roosevelt is one of my 3 favorite hotels in New Orleans. The staff is always polite. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are roomy and up to date. The beds are comfortable and the pillows fluffy. The Roosevelt is positioned in a wonderful spot in New Orleans. It is located on the opposite side of Canal French Quarter which is wonderful for noise if you are a light sleeper like me. Often people never talk about the noise which is 24/7 from Tourists, bands, street musicians, parades, and arguing street hookers in NOLA and due to the age of most buildings they are not insulated well and you hear everything on the streets. Being one block outside of the French Quarter makes a huge difference! It also saves you from the smell of all the rotting seafood, trash, and other horrid smells that plague the French Quarter.

The Roosevelt has a gorgeous long hallway on the main floor as the building actually stretches across the whole block with entrances on either side roads. The O'Keefe entrance offers Valet parking. The hallway is always photo ready but if you come in December they have the most stunning decorated Christmas trees inside the hallway that just add a little magic.

The elevators are key activated only which is nice and not many hotels in NOLA do that. It keeps the drunk random people, prostitutes, and group parties to a minimum keeping it quieter and safer which is great for kids.

The only bad time to choose this hotel is Mardi Gras. Because of the parade routes on the weekends the parades go down a small part of Canal so they close canal. You can not walk across the street so you have to go down several blocks to cross and get into the French Quarter.

The Roosevelt has a bar that is open to the street and is rustic like most bars in NOLA.

Overall the Roosevelt is one of the few nicer hotels in NOLA that is actually worth the higher rates.

So, I am a Hilton Honors gold and have been to hundreds of properties and I was looking forward to this visit since I rarely stay at Waldorf hotels for work functions.

This hotel is in a great location, a block from bourbon street/canal street and shopping and on the corner of the trolly car. They have very nice people working at this hotel, always helpful and cheerful.

However, this hotel is just okay in its interior and products. Its almost cheap looking to try and look like a grand and opulent hotel. The guest rooms were small and not special. The bathrooms were a little on the dingy side (needed some cleaning in some obvious areas of neglect over the years), they provided minimal amenitites were cheap (think one shampoo at most) and the room came with only one small round of soap so you had to take from the bathroom counter to the shower and back to the counter.

The food in the restaurants are impressive and the brussell sprouts will make you cry they are so good. It appears its one of their most popular dishes and well, I at three bowls of brussel sprouts during my trip. My mom would be so proud.

The coffee shop, Teddy's is average but offers nice seating for meetings. the medium coffees are over 6.00! They also offred what we termed "gold cokes" because a small 5 ounce can was 6.00 in the cafe! No better in the mini bar as the mini cans of soda were 6.99 at checkout! On that topic, there is a Walgreens next door to the hotel so grab your supplies there. Also, there is a starbucks about 1.5 blocks up so that is your best bet for coffee at a reasonable price (did I just say STARBUCKS was reasonable in pricing?!)

So all in all, not a horrible stay but it just did not meet the standards for the Waldorf Astoria. Perhaps its becaue its in a pretty gross part of town? There is homeless, drunks (both homeless and tourists and locals), violence and scammers surrounding the hotel. You can watch scammers preying on tourists with drinks in hand and purses for the taking. So please be careful when walking around. Also, all the shopping in the blocks of around the hotel close promptly at 6pm because it gets pretty unsafe in the area at sundown. Also, lots of police presence and you can hear police sirens and EMS sirens all night long.

If you are there for business come prepared. They have a shipping center that they deem a business center with two computers that you have to pay for internet/printing but the computers didn't always work and there is no one there to report it to or obtain help. This is NOT a business center so again, come prepared.

We only stayed for 1 night this trip but we will was definitely visit again. The staff was super friendly and made us feel welcome. The lobby is beautiful and the bar is elegant although a bit on the pricey side. We reserved using the Taste of New Orleans package which made the visit an amazing value!

Very professional staff with beautiful decor and courteous staff. Ashley was great at arrival with offering an upgrade to a corner suite for gold loyalty (not guaranteed but offered) and provided options for an early check in. Room was large and very luxuiorus. All staff were pleasant and great to work with. Seconds from the French quarter and live music in the hotel on the weekend. Also don't forget to visit the sazerac bar. Best drinks in the city!

This is a beautiful, historic hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly. The food was great too which is always nice. The only downside I can mention is I stayed in a room next to be elevators and they were extremely noisy all night long. Unfortunate but the reality of an old hotel.
