Owner description: Get wherever you want to go in New Orleans with the Regional Transit Authority (RTA). Our extensive network of buses and streetcars winds throughout every neighborhood of the Crescent City. From Uptown to Downtown, from Lakeview to the Lower Nine, from Mid-City across the Mississippi River and to the parish lines, the RTA goes there. As streetcars glide underneath grand live oaks and past stately mansions, they offer up relaxing views of the beauty, charm and history of New Orleans for little cost. When riders board these historic vehicles they are boarding a piece of movable New Orleans history. The RTA operates three streetcar lines: the famous, historic St. Charles line, the Canal Street line, and the Riverfront line. All lines either run along or intersect with Canal Street in the area between the French Quarter and the Central Business District (CBD) connecting Uptown/Garden District, Carrollton, Mid-City, City Park and the Marigny. The RTA is currently adding more Streetcar lines.

this and the canal st streetcars will take you to all the good places in NOLA, such as the aquarium, zoo, insectarium, garden district, and plent of great restaurants. it's $1.50 each time you get on or you can get a day pass for only $3. don't miss out on riding the streetcars, if only for the experience.

“When in New Orleans........”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2012

Ok....you just gotta do it. Take the St.Charles Streetcar into the Garden District in the evening, after the lights go on in the houses. You'll be able to see all those beautiful homes with their beveled glass doors, etc, and try to imagine what it would be like to be lucky enough to live in that kind of atmosphere. Plenty of restaurants along the route too. It costs $1.25, or $3.00 for an all day ticket (exact change only). It's not just for tourists - the locals depend on it, but the tourists get their money's worth.

“Historic!”

Must experience this if you live or travel to NOLA. Very cheap and convenient if you want to travel between downtown and uptown. Always made it a point to take my friends visiting NOLA on this streetcar. View of the amazing houses and universities from the streetcar is a bonus!

“How can you not love it!?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2012

while staying downtown, picked it up at St Joseph and St Charles to go uptown to Touro Synagogue for the Jazz Fest Shabbat. Very short wait both ways, and of course the ride is classic. The only way to head uptown!
