“Great intro to Cajun cooking”
Reviewed 25 April 2012

My husnad and I attended a cooking demonstration at NOSC. So much fun! Our instructor, a retired food service director dished out great stories along with gumbo (the best I've ever had) jambalaya, pralines and bananas foster. Since we were staying almost across the street at the Omni Royal Orleans it was an easy place to visit. Worth the cost.

“Educational plus lots of Laughs”
Reviewed 25 April 2012

Saundra was our cook and entertainer. She taught us the difference between Cajun and Creole and discussed the history to great extent about NO. We learned not only about how they cook but how they cope with the life they live being in the midst of Katrina and Camille. They are a very special breed of people. I wish more of the northern population had their outlooks and personality. I will go to the Cooking School again when I go back to NO and I will be going back.

“Don't Pass This Up!”
Reviewed 25 April 2012

I attended a cooking class here ( broken arm and all) and had the best time, best food, best entertainment and best history lesson all rolled into one. The endless supply of Abita made it even better!

“History AND Cooking”
Reviewed 17 April 2012

Not only will you make and eat a delicious meal, you will get a great history lesson about how New Orleans food came to be. It was so interesting. 58 cultures came together to create the cuisine that exists today. We went with a group of 9 and divided into 4 food stations where we created our meal from a menu we had selected. The meal included an appetizer (shrimp remoulade), soup (crab & corn bisque), main dish (shrimp jambalaya), and dessert (pecan pie). It took about 3.5 hours and we were stuffed when we left. (I forgot to mention that you get to drink beer and wine the whole time too!) You leave with a a great deal of knowledge, a full belly and the recipes you made!!! I highly recommend this place.
