“A B&B full of personality”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 March 2012

Don and Harry and the girls, their adorable and very well behaved dachshunds, made our stay memorable. We enjoyed our very quiet garden room in this historic home, the great "help yourself" breakfasts. It was fun meeting the other guest as they wandered into the kitchen while we were choosing between home made scones or quiche, coffee cakes or just plain or cereal. Thanks to great hosts, everyone feels at home here and that makes for a great atmosphere.

The location is perfect. If you love live music, enjoy walking, and want to feel like you are staying in the real New Orleans, have dinner on Frenchman Street. We loved being able to walk everywhere, and the only time we took a cab was to go the WWII museum (Don't miss their 4D movie Beyond All Boundries.)

This is not your average B&B, and you won't understand what I mean until you stay there, but do stay there.

We absolutely loved staying here. The hosts go out of their way to please, and are very knowledgeable of all things Nawlins. The rooms and furnishings are eclectic and very tasteful. The home is old, 1836 I believe, so it's not the Hilton, but it's way better. You will feel at home as if you are visiting the home of your favorite friend or relative, We've never felt so welcome, and feel like we have 2 new friends. The gardens in back where the hot tub is are fantastic any time of day, but especially at night when the lights come on and it really comes alive.

Thanks Don and Harry, see ya next time we visit your wonderful vibrant city.

We all know how tricky it is to choose the right place to call home away from home when we travel! I was in NoLa for my 50th with friends and Maison de Lagniappe proved to be ideal for our small group. Don and Harry are amazing hosts, and will make your visit one you will not forget. You will want to go back and you will want to stay there again. The location is perfect - close enough to the French Quarter but far enough from all the action, so that you will wake up in the morning and feel free to go to the kitchen, grab a freshly baked goodie and some coffee... go back to bed, or hang out and hear everything Don and Harry have to share.
A surprise birthday cake from them was the sweetest gesture I have ever encountered on vacation. Frenchman Street is an area not to be missed; amazing music and an authentic local experience. Do rent bikes and get out of the tourist zone. I hope to be able to go back soon.

After spending weeks reviewing options for lodging in New Orleans we finally settled on Maison de Lagniappe, a Bed-and-Breakfast historic home in the Creole neighborhood of Marigny. And we have no regrets! This is the perfect spot if you love live music, enjoy walking, and want to feel like you are staying in the real New Orleans.

Don and Harry (and of course Frank and the dogs) are wonderful hosts, and they answered all our questions to make our vacation one of the best ever. I even learned how to make pralines!

It's close enough to the French Quarter sights without having to deal with the noise, and it's much more interesting than the central business district. We were able to walk just about everywhere, including all our dinner spots and the Treme neighborhood to visit the Backstreet museum (of Mardi Gras Indian costumes). We even found a bike tour (Confederacy of Cruisers) that was conveniently located close by.

But most importantly, this is the neighborhood where a stretch of Frenchman Street houses a nightly selection of some of the best live music (IMO) you can see in New Orleans. We never had any problems getting to and from activities and concerts any time of the day or night.

Room Tip: If you are planning a long-term stay, ask about the suites with the sitting rooms and the discount f...

Nice, clean room within walking distance of French Quarter. Friendly, helpful owners. Had a wonderful stay and would stay there again.
