I was nervous this would be a stuffy, dark, a bit worn Victorian atmosphere but it was completely the opposite. Everything felt brand new and sparkling even in Victorian style. A beautiful renovation. Our room was large and comfortable with lots of windows and a pristine bathroom. All the extras were great - cookies. breakfast and drink coupons, plus free, convenient parking. Plus, the location couldn't have been better. Two blocks to the lake and just a few blocks from the capital and lots of restaurants and music venues. Staff was friendly and professional. I would love to stay there again.

Rehabbing old real estate is a side business and passion of mine. I love staying at old, restored hotels. The whole hotel is amazingly restored. The woodwork is great. The hotel has nice sized rooms with a bar downstairs that has live music, free popcorn, peanuts and other goodies. The hotel is right by the lake. My room had nice bathroom, carpet and of course a comfortable bed.

You get a free complimentary drink at the bar when you check in. There are nice restaurant in walking distance. The hotel offers great breakfast.

I would definitely stay here again.

Room tip: One side of the hotel faces the lake. Try to get that side, if available.

This hotel is so amazing and full of character. A carefully remodeled property from 1880 full of Victorian charm, you won’t find a more awesome place in Madison to stay. Rooms are elegant but modern and have perfect working heat/air units, showers with plenty of hot water, coffee pots, TVs and the most comfortable bed I have slept in in quite some time (also two ply toilet paper - rare). Hotel offers free cookies and complimentary drink tickets for the amazing bar downstairs which also offers live music seven days a week. Bartender (along with the rest of hotel staff) was super sweet and even gave us a CD of her band. You couldn’t ask for a better location either, right on the water with plenty of interesting food options in walking distance. Stay includes a breakfast from the bakery with a generous 7am-11am window of opportunity. Team Froggy Fresh is totally grateful for the hospitality as this was the coolest place we’ve stayed during this 52 day tour.

I recently stayed at the historic Hotel Ruby Marie for a night while on business in Madison and there's not enough positive adjectives to describe how great my stay was. Upon my arrival I was greeted with cookies and a smile. My room had all the comfort of a modern hotel with the charm of a 19th century Victorian inn. It was an unreasonably cold night for spring but my room was warm and comfy. Also, I had a beautiful view of the lake. There's also on sight parking which makes life easy. I cannot wait to get back to Madison for an extended stay at the Ruby Marie. Cheers!

We probably chose the noisiest room in the hotel, #13. It’s lovely, with all the amenities one expects and quaint antiques. But sleep was a problem both nights. The train at 3am and 5am went right past the windows, loudly, and there’s traffic all day and quite a bit at night. I don’t know if there’s any way to better sound-proof it. There are rooms that are farther from the street noise.
We enjoyed a fine breakfast and happy hour drinks included, and it’s a very central location with a view of the lake.

Room tip: The noise within the hotel was never a problem.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We're happy to hear that you enjoyed all we have to offer, including our complimentary breakfast and happy hour. We're sorry to hear that the train kept you awake at night. We would love to have you back again, perhaps in a room on the other side of the building (further from the tracks). Thanks again.
