The restaurant we went to was on the banks of the river which flows 400kms across SriLanka, and is a favourite water rafting venue.
We stopped here for lunch, and what a spot this was. The entrance of the hotel which also has lodging, was filled with vases with bunches of anthuriums of so many colours! And then when we climbed down the steps....there were more bunches of Anthuriums(!)....there were also several levels of seating places with table and chairs,.....we saw old hat stands and chaise lounges, tables with carved legs...and generally most of the furniture was colonial and old and so well kept and beautiful!
When we finally reached our lunch venue ( we were stopping here for lunch on our way to Newark Eliya) there was the river flowing happily beneath us and going round the bed, and boat loads of people were going by.
Lunch was hot and spicy! I love spice ....but one has to be a little careful of how much to eat! The Spring hoppers doused some of the heat.....had fish fritters the size of coins for the first time...like Calamari rings.....very nice!More
