“comfortable stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 April 2012

Excellent hotel with comfortable rooms. Close to shop for drinks etc and you can walk out to the beach, turn right and have a choice of some excellent restaurants for lunch and dinner. The breakfast is good, reasonable choice of food and lovely to eat whilst watching the waves roll in. Excellent for an early morning walk. Can walk along the beach into Kuta. Will take about 1/2 hr. Staff very nice. Pool area beautiful. We stay in the rooms down the hill opposite the small pool. Very quiet and relaxing.

we stayed here for nearly 2 weeks with 2 teenagers and we found it really suitable for our needs. if u are after 5star accommodation with slick modern rooms then look elsewhere. if u are happy with basic family friendly rooms then this is perfect. if we stayed again i would ask for the bungalows tho as the rooms in the main buildings really didnt have any character or the nice bali feel of other resorts we have stayed in. the brekkis were great. it changed every morning so the variety was fine. we never had dinner there but we did have burgers around the pool for lunch which were fantastic. the swim up bar was a hit for my teenage son and husband. many hours and many dollars were spent there !!
the resort is in a fantastic area. the beach wasnt as crowded and u are also right in the middle of a busy shopping area. fantastic warungs and restaurants all close by. my fav massage place was out the front of the melasti on the opposite side. u have to go down a side path but dont panic, it is totally safe and the girls r all so wonderful. tell them Tommy, Maisie and Gee sent u. i THINK it is called ena and ketuk !!!!!
i have read some negative comments on here about this resort, but really !! if u are not willing to spend the dollars then u shouldnt be quite so fussy on the standards. we all found it quite ok. no worries at all

Room Tip: i would go the bungalows next time. the standard rooms really dont have 'the bali feel'

We spent 9 nights here in February. On arrival I was really disappointed with the hotel. We were at the front of the hotel on the second floor and had to walk up a horrible walkway and you enter into your room from the back corridor. However I changed my mind after two days as although the room was old and needed updating the staff are all wonderful and the room was really clean (& cleaned properly during our stay). We had a small pool in front of our room that no one seemed to use - there is a bigger pool with a bar as well. I asked the reception if we could change to the ground floor to walk out to the pool and they were more than happy to oblige. The rooms are huge and great for famlies on a budget as you could easily fit two kids in with room to move around. Breakfast was really average and the restaurant really needs a major update. You are right on the beachfront with some great restaurants to the right when you walk out to the beach.Location is good for shopping and bars only five minutes walk.We were in a superior room.

Room Tip: ask for superior at the front of the hotel on the ground floor with the pool right in front of you

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2012

Stayed at Melasti for one week, girls trip, three mums in our 20's.
This was my third stay at Melasti & I have to say it was my last. It has gone downhill in the last few years & while it is still a beautiful resort it's very much in need of some upgrades. We had three different rooms throughout our stay & the airconditioning was poor in all three. The breakfast was average, not much choice & the room service food was not great. The service was poor, staff were very slow to respond to requests if at all. In our first room the toilet didn't flush properly, the sink wouldn't drain & the shower didn't work. On the second day housekeeping must have noticed that the aircon wasn't working properly so they called someone to fix it. We had workmen in our room for an hour & after they left it didn't work at all. They couldn't fix it so they moved us.
The grounds are beautiful & very well maintained and the resort is in a great position. But that's not enough for me to come back.
I wasn't expecting 5 star luxury for the price we paid, but I also wasn't expecting all of the problems we encountered.

Once again for the fourth year we returned to Melasti Legian. We were greeted with open arms - All the paperwork was completed before arrival and were immediately taken to our room. We were there two weeks and meet some great new friends from Perth, Sydney and Melbourne.

I know the place is old but the atmosphere and staff are still wonderful. The best thing is everything eg massage, shopping, bars and restaurants are within walking distance.

Will always stay here.

Room Tip: Top floor good but the air con not too good.
