“A day as maharaja”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2012

It was my First Business trip to Kota. There is no luxury hotels in Kota. The best choice for me was Umed Bhawan.
A Welcome Heritage hotel by ITC. Place converted to hotel. Not a Luxuty Hotel- The heritage hotel.Surrended by Nature ( Looks like forest) . You can enjoy Peacock dancing around and monkey playing around. Don't expect any Luxury or Great Service. A nice place to stay and enjoy the indian heritage. The Palace is very nice and not maintained well. Stayed in Royal Suite, Huge Room, at time you feel lonley.

Room Tip: Chhose in First Floor. Good View of nature with Peacock flying around

As the tourism season is winding down I suppose it wasn't surprising that there were few guests at the hotel, but it looked like we were the only ones rattling around in this large palace, now a heritage hotel. What made our stay stand out was the pleasant and helpful staff. Couldn't have been nicer to us. The hotel itself needs a lot of money spent to take it into the next category but having said that everything was clean and attended to. Only issue was the noise in the middle of the night (late arriving guests perhaps?) - considering the hotel was so empty it seemed strange that this would be a problem,

Had a chance visit to Kota, the industrial capital of Rajasthan. The city otherwise gets not much attention as a tourist destination, even though it has a few attractions.

Because of this reason it does not have 5 star properties. The only good place to stay in the entire city and around worth a mention is the Uday Bhawan Palace, a 32 room heritage property converted from a real palace into a hotel and restaurant.

The palace is picturesque with long corridors, beautiful arches, period artifacts on display, well maintained greens. In toto, the place is awesome. The approach road through more than half a kilometer of jungle with monkeys and baboons makes it a little adventurous. Though it does need a little maintenance.

The property is huge as compared to the number of rooms available. The rooms are also huge and very spacious, more than double the size of a good 5 star hotel room. The property is well maintained inside.

What prompted me to check-in to this was the facilities extended by ITC. The other hotels, I heard, have problems with round-the-clock hot water, which I did not have it Uday Bhawan. Also stand-by power does not let you be in dark or cold for even a minute.

The food is good, the breakfast sumptuous. They even provide the package breakfast in room, which most hotels insist and provide as a buffet. To keep us happy they even provided dishes desired by us, not otherwise a part of their menu.

If one is looking for a grand stay in prices comparable with other available heritage or top class properties one must opt for Umed Bhawan.

As everyone else states, this is part of a real palace. The rooms are HUGE...the bathroom and dressing rooms are also the size of small rooms. The food is just OK...we had breakfast, lunch and dinner at this hotel...Nothing special..do not go for thr food, but to sleep in a palace..They had entertainment at night that was a pleasant surprise...Tell them to put on the fans in the dining room..it was sweltering..Some rooms are much bigger than others and some have much nicer furniture..I think its the luck of the draw

As the name suggests, this hotel was really a palace and now has been converted into a hotel as well a restaurant. Try visiting this place in the night. the six hundred meter drive is quite thrilling as if you are entering a forest or so. Once you reach here, no problems here after. The check in quite smooth and the service is very good. On the top Food is the best here. One can get the best food available in Kota.
the rooms are quite big, actually the King style types. The exterior of the hotel does need a maintenance, rest all is quite good.

Room Tip: just go for it, if you have money to shed.
