“"Panormic View"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 May 2012

We two families stayed at Cloud9 Hills Resort for 2 nights. Nights were surprisingly cool and morning view of sunrise was fantastic. The resort is surrounded by the hills all around and undoubtedly it is one of best locations in lonavala. The resort is located 1500ft. above lonavala and one can have best view by sitting in cottage only.
The quality of food is excellent. There are no hotels or restaurants nearby the resort and simply you have to depend on the resort menu which is vegetarian only. On inquiry from management we were told that it is more of Jains & Gujaratis who are most favoured tourists who prefer veg meals. The quality of food is so great, we didnot feel to go anywhere outside the Resort.
The best part of the resort is cottages. All the cottages are well equipped with A.C, T.V and well furnished. There is a distance of 10' between each cottage. In short, the location is wonderful, food is good and you get value of your money.
The resort must be heaven in monsoon. We made our confirm booking for monsoon.

The resort is a fantastic property with a lovely location. The room given to us was quite comfortable and we had a pleasant stay. It has the great swimming pool, great lawns and serves good food. The calm and cool weather of Lonavala added beauty to this place…. Satisfied with the overall experience

one of the worst experiences of my life... great location but horribly maintained ( i cannot call it a property)... the only saving grace was the courteous staff... non exsistant swimming pool... pathetic rooms .... the walls were leaking buckets and by morning we were sleeping in water beds... thanks for not charging us any extras for the water beds... were shifted to their best bungalow after a lot of haggling and wasting our entire day which was full of bed bugs/ insects etc ( we could not sleep for 2 nights we had to stay there as the money was already paid and we had guests from out of india leaving on sunday night) we dread the conditions for the other people staying there.... just 1 word of advice "A V O I D "

Room Tip: NON... all the cottages are terrible except the one( and they have only one of these) shown on websi...

please keep in mind that we visited during the rains monsoon season so in maybe in the summer it would be completely different.

Be advised that the fog was very dense at times and recommended to not go out of the resort after 7pm as the fog is very dense and there is not light. So no driving after 7pm.

when you first start on the ambyvalley road i was very impressed that at almost every 1km or so there are clear boards marking cloud9 resort. So it really brings your hopes up.
But once you arrive you realize that its basically individual cottages plus reception/dinning area plus a swimming pool the size of a jacuzzi plus a viewing point. So it leaves a lot to be desired.

The resort is very funnily engulfed in a confusing mix of open boundried plots and very lavish bungalows. And its quite interesting because its technically in the middle of no-where as there is nothing around it.

THE GOOD
the views are just breathtaking. And i have traveled abroad and was shocked to see the similar greenery, peace & scenery.
It depends on the Cottage you take, but either way you see a giant hill in front of you or just see the vast expanse of greenery of further hills.
since its on ambyvalley road, the drive is superb!
all the waterfalls and viewing points are on this road so even more perfect.
Amby valley is just at the end of the road.
There is an off road through the hills to a Fort or some Mahindra Members only resort.
The lookout point at the end of the cottages on the hill is amazing to just sit and spend hours staring at the vast expanse.

THE BAD
the reception/Dining Area is very basic almost like a Dhaba.
Food is Only Veg and in my opinion is just basic. This is a bit let down because there is no a-la-carte menu and you have to eat whatever is cooked. Also because of the remote location, you cant even go out for meals.
There is no picnic area or activities area (there is a garden with swings but not usable)
swimming pool is very basic and about 10ft by 5ft maybe.
Either you stay in your cottage or just go and eat or sit on the viewing point. that is it. no activities.

the rooms is very relative to what you get.
as the rooms are varied (luxury on the top of hill, several cottages in line on hill, 2 cottages at entrance of property, bungalows) . Most of the rooms are structurally bad and require immediate renovation as they were made using wood which is rotting away.
In short, The rooms are liveable but leave a lot to be desired. what bugged me the most was the shower head. it was very bad, the water was spraying in all directions.
how much of an effort could it be to just buy even a cheap but functioning shower head. though the water was hot. But since its an instant geyser, the water gets cold in the middle and you have to wait.

For all above reasons, I felt it was overpriced in terms of what i provided!

Overall it is definitely worth a visit as the location is just too good. I have not come across anything like this because even ambyvalley is in a valley so the view is not so far. This is on a hill so the combination of greenery, fog & altitude is amazing combination.

But dont expect any thing else! just go for the view/location & your cottage.

Room Tip: ask them for the new Concreted Cottages not the wooden ones
