A budget stay with good facilities worth the cost

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 26 Aug 2016
We booked this hotel (lets not call this a resort because its not) during the Nehru Trophy Boat race. This hotel was very near from Matha Jetty from where we were supposed to get our picks to the pavilion island. We booked through cleartrip and got a decent rate for cottages (5000/- for two nights including b/f). We drove from Cochin and reached around 9pm. The hotel was very crowded that day for obvious reason (boat race next day). Check-in was ok and then we were taken to third floor to a suit room. Then we realized that we had booked in cottage and we informed the front desk. We came downstairs and spoke to the manager. He gave us some excuse but we were sure to stay in a room which we booked. They tried convincing us that they have upgraded us but we remained firm to stay in cottage. They informed that all are booked but they gave us a cottage finally which is in much better location in terms of privacy. Suit room was huge and very nice but cottage room was good and cosy. Finally we settled. The problem with people who come to stay in this hotel that they expect too much in too little cost. We stayed in hotels like Abad and Ramada which is costly but ofcourse you can expect better service and facilities but with a price like 2500/- for a cottage room, pls do not expect a 4 star service. Bathroom and room was decent with all toiletries with clean towels and bedsheets. TV and intercom was not working and after informing the front desk, they rectified it. Though they have very few cottages but looks thats the best they have rest all rooms are on the same floor of reception and they have more than 50 rooms (deluxe/super deluxe, suit etc) in two buildings. So you can not call this a resort. Sleep quality was really good, even though it was crowded the cottage area is quite peaceful. They have a huge parking area too. Breakfast option is limited and is just average in taste which was expected as this is not any chain of resort. This is a hotel, managed by some local owner and with its look, you should not expect much. You should try go for b/f not after 9 am or else most of food will get over and then refill will mostly be not done. When we came back in the evening after the boat race, our room was cleaned and drinking water was refilled and also we got news paper because its cottage and charges are high as compared to deluxe or semi deluxe so do not expect toiletries or news paper for a room which you pay 1000-1200/-. And yes, their restaurant closes at 10.30 pm and no room service or food you would get if you check-in late or expect to eat after 10.30pm. Thankfully we had dinner on way and we wanted to have coffee but were informed that no orders are taken after 10.30pm which was ok as they never claimed to have a 24 hrs room service. Surprisingly they had free wifi for us atleast. Not sure about other rooms. The swimming pool is next to cottages and it's not the hotel's fault that its not maintained the problem is with the crowd mostly students and groups who get in the pool wearing underwears and sleeping bermudas which make the pool really dirty. People really have no pool etiquette that swim wear are important not to show off but to keep the water clean and bubble free. We saw women getting in full night suit and salwars after seeing that we did not dare to get in the pool. We did not take any other food from this hotel as we did not like the breakfast taste much and opted to eat in Ramada which has a nice roof top bar and a Chinese restaurant and is just 4kms away from Pagoda. For us location was awesome as this was very near to jetty where we had to go and you would get autos anytime. Check-out was little slow as we did not order anything but they had some confusion that we ordered some tea-coffee to which we confirmed we did not. The staff is courteous and speak quite politely. Overall a good experience for the price we paid.

This is a good option if you care about budget. My booking was part of yatra package, we got a deluxe room.
Room was clean. Enjoyed Kerala food festival, which wasn't pricey either.
The staff was courteous.

No hot water in bathrooms. One drinking water bottle, no refill, no newspaper to room.

We stayed here for 1 night while visiting Alleppey with our friends. The hotel complex is nice, service is very good and the quality of food is awesome. The staff here is very good and friendly. We also took Shirodhara ayurvedic massage here and it just felt awesome. This hotel has some good amenities like swimming pool, gym, bar and room service. All in all it was a very good experience staying here. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone who is coming to Alleppey and definitely I would also prefer this hotel if I'll ever come again to Alleppey.
