“Strongly Recommended to rejuvenate & truly discover Oneself with nature”

I stayed at Nelpura with my brother in law ,sister and niece in July 2011 . We really enjoyed the boat ride to reach the place. But what struck me most about Nelpura was the warmth of our hosts, the homeliness of our accommodation and the beauty of the surrounding area. The food namely Kappa ,meen and duck roast to mention a few, really gave our culinary senses something to relish and remember for a long time to come.Prof Chacko was always at hand to assist us and to provide his valuable insight into an array of topics ranging from farming, local customs ,religion to politics.Nelpura really gave us time to relax from the hectic day to day buzz and took us back to a bygone era where people used to live in close sync with mother nature. The stay really allowed us to introspect on the current pace of life and eroding values and we went back refreshed to fulfill our chores, for yet another year, promising to go back to Nelpura next holidays for renewal of energy and mind.

We, a group of nine people stayed in this wonderful place for couple of days. We had the opportunity to share the victory moments of the Boat race held there. The boat trip in the lake was of once in a lifetime experience. And to top it all, the wonderful homemade cuisine by Chacko and family was a real memorable one. Special thanks to Chacko for organizing the "madhurakallu' in short notice, I can recommend this place to anybody who is looking for a calm and quiet Kerala vacation.

A very friendly family in a wonderful house in a very welcoming village surrounded by picturesque paddy fields criss-crossed by a network of narrow waterways. This homestay also provided the best food we ate in all of Kerala, from the banana crisps at tea-time, to the breakfast with mango juice fresh from the garden and the wonderful wonderful dishes served at meal times.
We stayed during a festival at a nearby temple so the sleep quality wasn't as good as it might have otherwise been. But this didn't detract from our stay and my 4 year old enjoyed making friends with other families in the village and even picked up some of the rules of cricket. Thank you to the Chacko family for such a lovely stay.

We spent two days here organised by Kerala Connections (great company by the way). Nelpura is a delightful property where you get to know the family and enjoy fabulous and plentiful cooking. The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean with more than adequate bathrooms; the traditional wooden decor is to be savoured. Mr Chacko is a great character and very helpful, as is his wife and the caretaker, who takes the main responsibility for looking after guests.

The village is quiet and completely unspoilt. The locals are really friendly and it couldn't be less touristy. A real delight.

The accomodation was a fully renovated 120 year old rice storage house. It was wonderful and while old world had all modern conveniences. it was the most relaxing of all the homestays with wonderful walks through ricefields, along canals & small villages. The service was amazing with great meals, morning and afternoon tea served to us on our verandah. To get there you travel by canoe across the wide canal then journey slowly up a smaller canal to the front door. This set the scene for a wonderful stay. see pictures
