Stayed there over the Moon Festival weekend (sept 12). We were 2 families with altogether 4 young kids.
Very nice hotel located on a huge property that includes an organic farm that provides for the hotel, kid club, fishing pond and cycling path along the Yangsheng lake.

Rooms :
- we had the deluxe room
- really big and beautiful with all amenities. Bathtub has a huge window where you can look outside. Big closet where you can put all your stuff.
- big floor to ceiling windows.
- bed is really comfortable.
- they have nice baby cots/playpen with 2 levels but beware that they are more suitable for babies than a toddler (a small 3 year old could hardly fit in it as it was not long enough)

Restaurants :
- only 2 restaurants. International or Chinese.
- Chinese restaurant a bit pricey but extensive menu and really tasty food. Service is slow though. Possibilty to eat in the outside courtyard.
- International restaurant offers a buffet lunch and dinner. A bit disappointed by the poor western selection. They seem to cater more to Asian tastes with sushi, a lot of fried items or stir-fried. Possibility to eat outside by the pool
- buffet breakfast was good and had an extensive selection.
- because you're far from the city unless you hire a taxi you won't be able to eat anywhere else.

Facilities:
- the outdoor pool is small but suitable for kids. We did not go to the indoor pool nor the fitness center.
- outdoor kid's playground is quite big and surrounded by a sand pit.
- international restaurant has a big kid's playground with TV screen at the back so it's really nice to enjoy a meal while the kids play.

Service:
- it was a very busy weekend. Staff was very nice but clearly a bit overwhelmed.
- food was slow to arrive. I wish the staff would have told me that some dishes - though excellent - take ages to cook.

Activities :
- plenty of things to do. Most of them very child friendly.
- You can rent bikes and ask the concierge for cycling paths. They have a very popular 2-seat bike where you can attach a chariot with 2 kids in it. They loved it ! Unfortunately they only have two 2-seat chariot and two 1-seat chariot. So it became quite tough to reserve them as they are very popular among families. Don't know why they don't get more as clearly half of the hotel guests were with kids. The other half attending meetings. They also have a few kid's bike but I haven't seen any baby seat.
- you can go fishing, pick vegetables/fruits at the organic farm...
- the kid club has many activities.

Note : Check-in time is 3pm. Check-out time is 4pm. Meaning that if you arrive earlier you will likely have to wait until a room is empty. We arrived in the morning and already 6 people were waiting. A lot of people showed up around noon time for check-in and were pretty upset that they coul not get a room right away.

If you book directly with them you can get some very good deals. After discussions we got bigger rooms and breakfast included.

Overall a perfect place to stay for a couple of days. Away from the Kunshan city so it's quiet, safe for cycling and very relaxing to be surrounded by nature. I was surely go back again.

We stayed at this hotel for one night in the past weekend. The property's setting is impressive: lake-front, large piece of land with farms, small animals, honey-bee combs, and plants; fishing facilities, cycling paths, kids club, etc.; and in my view it's one of the best hotels in China in terms of getting close to nature. Certainly hairy crab is also an additional attraction in the autumn and winter season.

The hardware in the room is also good, and you do get everything typical in a full-service 5-star hotel plus a modern flavor of decoration.

However, what disappointed us is the service. First of all, checking-in is terrible. We did not get a room at the time of arrival (close to noon) and was told to comeback at 1PM.Yet at 1:30PM we still could not get one, and other guests who waited in line got the room first. The front desk staff and even the manager-on-duty apparently are not well trained, and the communication skills are very bad. There was no sense of being welcomed as guests. Furthermore, the management of recreation activities is not optimized as well, e.g. the popular 2-seat bicycle is not enough for rental at all time. The temp of in-door swimming pool was very cold, but the staff was arguing with other guests that the temp was right. Lastly, the check-out process was very long and confusing, with tons of paper floating around.

In sum, the hotel staff apparently lack the right communication skills and serving spirit, and they tend to be very defensive, not thinking from guests' perspective. Be prepared for this.

This was my third or fourth stay at the Fairmont. It is a beautiful hotel and property. There is an organic farm and a wonderful outdoor pool on the property. The rooms are notably large and very attentive staff. The buffet breakfast has extensive Western and Asian options. Meals ordered from the menu (mixed Western & Asian) can be fairly slow so plan accordingly.

I am continually driven crazy by the poor wi-fi coverage (none in the rooms) but was wrong in a previous review--there is a cable for wired internet access in the rooms. This is fine for a laptop but obviously limits the use of other devices.

On this visit, I spent more time in their meeting/ballroom space. The space is flexible and can serve small and very large groups and the staff are very attentive. The heating/cooling is oddly inconsistent in the hallways but the meeting/ballrooms themselves are fine.

Was here for a business trip as a client's factory was opening in the same county and arranged a ceremony and celebratory dinner for his business partners. I stay at the Fairmont Singapore fairly often and was pleasantly surprised to find out that the client (who's paying for the trip) had booked a hotel with such a reputable chain.

To sum up:
Check in and check out smooth And accurate
Rooms very large, modern yet luxurious, well-equipped
Bar staff knowledgable with very good service
Hotel is right next to the Yangcheng lake, away from the Kunshan town centre but very scenic
Very reasonable rack rates

If you want a bit of relaxation, or to stay while you come in October to sample the famous hairy crabs (from the lake next to the hotel), Fairmont is the place to go.

Room Tip: It's okay not to have a lake view
