Treetops is spectacular! The main building and each "treehouse" is built around a baobab tree. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The main building is wonderful and open air with a lovely pool that often animals come close to. The staff was delightful, helpful and friendly. The meals and drinks were excellent. Both evenings we dined outside by candlelight with Maasai tribal entertainment! We had our own host who took very good care of us, made sure we had escorts to and from our treehouse, took care of our bags, etc. Our last morning an elephant came right up to the dining room to tell us goodbye. The only downside is that Treetops is a bit of a drive over very bumpy roads from the park.

Thank you for your great review!
We are so thrilled you enjoyed yourselves here and that you were able to see some of our cultural activities. Glad that you enjoyed our spacious rooms, we have one of the largest bedrooms to be found in any camp or lodge in East Africa!

While we are slightly outside the park, the upside is that we offer more exclusive and intimate game driving opportunities and we also work very closely with the community around us.

Our waterhole and sometimes swimming pool allows for many elephants to spend time around the camp and it is great that we are able to share our precious water with them. Wonderful that you were able to get an up close goodbye from one of them!

We hope that you enjoyed your visit to Tanzania and will be back our way again soon!

Take care,
Steve, De and the Elewana TarangireTreetops family

This place really can't be described... it has to be experienced. The staff, Steve and Dee, Nicholas and Elli and everyone who made our trip the unforgettable adventure that it was, were simply the best. I tried to limit my expectations for this trip as I didn't want to be disappointed. But everything in Tarangire exceeded anything I could have hoped for. The accommodations, our nest in the trees, is something I will remember forever. I didn't want to leave. It was the closest thing to being a bird I think I will ever have. If you go, plan on spending some time here. It is literally the trip of a lifetime. Joanne S.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms... they are all in the trees....You must be able to do stairs. There are no elevators in treetops

Thank you so much for your review and the warmth in its delivery.

We are so glad that we could make your stay memorable we're delighted that we could share this little piece of Tanzania that we call home. The beauty of it is in its location and its closeness to nature. The grandeur of the baobab trees coupled with the quiet stillness gives you a sense of being at one with nature.

As you say, despite being in the middle of the bush we can offer you some of the comforts of home and being in a tree just makes it more spectacular.

Best wishes and take care,
Steve, De and the Treetops family.

My daughter and I stayed here, for only one night unfortunately, during an all too short safari in Tanzania post her work experience.
We arrived relatively late due to road conditions in the park. Steve however, the manager, was there to great us with a huge smile and all necessary to make our stay absolutely magical.
You can not image the main lodge, it truly is surrounding a tree where bats fly out off during the evening. And then your room - in a tree, at the top of a spiral staircase with a trap door. Yes, shower, sinks and flushing toilet. INCREDIBLE !
Dinner is served by the dipping pool, lite by small lanterns. You are escorted there by a Massi warrior as you are not safe outside once dark. The food and service are truly five star.
Coffee the next morning with De, Steve's wife was precious.
We are returning in August 2019 with the balance of our family. This is something they must experience and I do feel guilty that they were not on this great adventure.

The rooms are amazing. They are literally treehouses! The rooms are beautifully decorated and include universal outlets, running hot water, and a set of stairs to keep out unwanted guests. The rooms are spaced out fairly far from one another for privacy (~30 yards perhaps) which gives a neat isolated feeling. Security guards will escort you to and from your room for your own safety, but we never felt that we were in danger. Lions wandered around our particular room, we saw their footprints in the morning!

The lounge area overlooks a watering hole that various animals use. I personally saw a small group of waterbuck use it one morning. The reception area is built around a tree that houses a colony of bats. It was very cool and the bats keep the mosquito population around the lodge very low, which was much appreciated. Guests can watch them come out at night, although they are also easily avoided if you aren't a fan of bats.

My group did a night-time game drive, which was definitely worth the extra cost. We saw lions, a genet, a chamelion, a springhare, an owl, and other animals. Some of them only come out at night, and the Maasai guide found things with almost super-human sight.

The staff here was extremely friendly and helpful. We got to know the waiter that was assigned to us, and learned a bit about the people that live in that part of Tanzania. The whole place is well-run and takes being environmentally conscious seriously without compromising the guest experience. The food was some of the best I've ever had, and each meal featured a local dish as well as a vegetarian dish for those who require it. I plan to return one day!

Room Tip: Some rooms are around 100 meters from the main dining area so do be prepared to walk a short bit after dinner.

Thank you so much for this fantastic and most comprehensive review!

We are so glad that you enjoyed your time with us and thrilled that you are planning to come back. Thank you for taking part in our activities. The night game drive puts a whole new perspective on safari drives. The darkness has you in suspense all the time and then you look up into that endless starry sky, which is not compromised by any ambient light.

The people of Tanzania are the real gems, making all feel so welcome.

Take care and all the best
Steve, De and the Tarangire Treetops family.

My husband planned this trip for our 25th wedding anniversary. When he told me that we would be staying in a treehouse, I was a little hesitant. When we arrived (after our flight on a bush taxi, which is another story in itself), we were greeted by Steve, Nicholas, and other staff members which included members of the Massai tribe. We were given moist towels to freshen up and a cool drink. The building was impressive. It's literally a hollow tree. We were escorted to our room and climbed the stairs to our treehouse. The pictures that we had seen represented the actual room very well. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable.

I could go on and on about our experience from being escorted to our room at night because of a lion spotting, to our wonderful safari with our guide Baraka, to the excellent service provided by Nicholas our personal butler. This was one of the best experiences we have had.
