We stayed here for three nights (a family of four including two teenage boys) mainly so we could go walking (as this is hard to do for kids in National Parks). It ended up being a highlight for lots of reasons.

For most of our time we were the only guests, which meant that we were the only ones looking at any animals we saw. We did a couple of walking safaris and a night drive as well as daytime drives, which were also fantastic. We saw baby bat eared foxes, elephants, lots of giraffe, zebras, many types of antelope (kudu, dikdik, impala, gazelles, eland) plus many different kinds of birds. Sitting in our tent or the main tent in the afternoon we always saw something worth seeing.

The tents were great (two tents next to each other for our family), with flush toilets, ingenious hot showers and a lovely verandah for lazy game watching.

The team, led by Richard and Wayne were fantastic, and gave us a Christmas Eve dinner we won't forget. Highly recommended.

The Manyara Ranch Conservancy is a true gem on the northern Tanzanian safari circuit. Besides the luxurious tents, delicious food, and impeccable service, the activities offered at this camp sets it apart from others. We will never forget our evening game drive in the camp's open-air vehicle where we sat just meters away from a relaxed family group of elephants - I've been on many game drives during safaris in Africa and this was one of the most magical. Later that evening we went out for an exciting night drive and spotted 14 Springhares (think rodents that look like small kangaroos!), a rare Zorilla, a pair of jackals, and so much more. The following morning we embarked on foot to walk amongst more elephants, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and giraffe. Seeing the wildlife from this perspective was an experience we'll never forget.

This camp is unique in offering these activities as they are not located within a national park, but rather on a privately-managed wildlife ranch. We looked into night drives and bush walks at other properties, but they were all very expensive because of additional national park fees. Despite the camp being located outside a national park, the wildlife was plentiful - we heard lions and hyenas at night and saw all the major plains game, including Lesser Kudu, which was a great treat! The ranch works with local Maasai communities to help protect the land and wildlife, so it's an extra bonus knowing your stay helps local communities.

The camp offers very comfortable lodging with spacious tents, tasteful decor, comfortable beds with duvets, piping hot showers, and flush toilets. Each tent has a private veranda where we sat in the afternoons and watched the wildlife and abundant birdlife from the convenience of our tent. Food was delicious and the kitchen easily accommodated a vegetarian in our family. Service was excellent – friendly and prompt when needed but not overbearing.

The exclusive property on this 40,000 acre ranch is the only one of its kind on the safari circuit and offers incredible wildlife experiences that are a unique addition to the typical photographic safari. An extra bonus was the convenience of the camp from Arusha town - only 1.5 hours by paved road. You couldn't find a better location for the start of your safarI!

Room Tip: The 2-tent family unit was perfect for our family of 2 adults + 3 kids.

We spent the best weekend game viewing, night game drive and some members of the group, a morning walk. Did not imagine the place will be teaming with wild life and was my first time to see a Zorilla. The hospitality was out of this world and will recommend it to family and friends. With only 8 tents, one feels the exclusivity and the attention to detail.

Room Tip: All tents have privacy unless you request for a family tent.

Located between the Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks in a private conservancy this tented camp allows to do such thrilling things as night rides and guided morning walks. Wayne, the manager and Richard, the waiter did a fabulous job, the g & t at the pond was wonderful and the quiet and civilized talks at the fire after sunset were most informative and pleasant. Not to forget are the very nice meals in the stylish dining tent and, last but not least, the comfortable personal tent with beautiful sights and sounds and a most remarkable and efficient technology for hot water production. Thank you for a brilliant stay.
