The hotel is ideally located to visit Manhattan. It is quiet and the rooms are comfortable. We loved the kitchen. The complimentary shuttle is a real bonus. We do not know the names of everyone at reception or the drivers but they were all superfriendly and helpful.

When our taxi from LaGuardia drew up beside the Box House Hotel, my boyfriend and I were instantly intrigued by its super cool appearance. A restored warehouse with classic yellow NY taxis parked outside, it gave off effortlessly relaxed Brooklyn vibes. The reception and bar area was inviting too, with vibrant décor and the staff were welcoming and accommodating.

The location is also great – it might feel like the middle of nowhere but it’s just a short walk over the Pulaski Bridge to the Vernon Blvd subway and then it’s just one stop on the 7 train to Grand Central, so you can experience the best of Manhattan and Brooklyn worlds.

The main disappointment of our stay was the rooftop bar, which was one of the reasons we booked this hotel in the first place. The website showcased several photos of this amazing space, but one night when we arrived with a bottle of wine to enjoy up there, we were told that it was for private events only. Then on our final night, a Friday evening, a private party indeed made use of the space till midnight, making a lot of noise - which only added salt to the wound.

Finally, on our last morning as we were leaving the hotel, the shuttle driver was unavailable (we were told he didn’t work weekends) and there was no hot water in the room.

So, although we loved the vibe, appearance and location of this hotel, the end of our stay left a slightly bitter taste.

Room Tip: City view rooms have great views of the Manhattan skyline, but not furnished

I made a quick trip to NYC for the weekend for a show in Brooklyn and decided to book a location that was easy to get to and nicer then run of the mill motels. The Box House Hotel was easy to get to and the staff was super friendly, funny and informative. The neighborhood had lots of bodegas, little restaurants and bars and was quiet and laid back. Close to the East River Ferry, highways and subway stops and buses.

They helped us navigate to the best public transit option to get to our show destination and provided helpful advice on places to eat and check out on the way.

The room was nicely designed and very clean. Bed and pillows were comfortable and the suite we stayed in had a nice little balcony that had room enough to sit AND had a nice view of Manhattan.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Suite but I stink at directions so not sure which way looked into the city, west I guess?

We have awesome days in New York and The Box House was a part of this. Incredible and clean accommodations, and the best, for sure, all the people that works there. If you like a good treatment and attention, you gonna like this place! Ah, I cannot forget to leave my special thanks to Mr Singh, that drove us few times around vicinity. Recommended.

I came in town for a wedding, spent five days & four nights at The Box House Hotel. What a beautiful boutique hotel, in a wonderful neighborhood & a quick ride into Manhattan. I loved all the charming accessories, fresh flowers and fabulous staff. Mr. Singh was so accommodating and knowledgeable. I will definitely return and will highly recommend this hotel to others. A real NYC gem.
