I wasn't expecting much on arrival at the Pointe Plaza Hotel in Brooklyn, where we planned to stay with our family for 2 nights, but was pleasantly surprised.
When we arrived we had booked 2 rooms, one with two single beds and a cot, and one with 2 double beds. Instead they upgraded us to 2 doubles on the 5th floor. The units both had a small kitchen, a safe, bathrooms, and were very clean. The beds were very comfortable and we slept very well - then again we were pretty exhausted. The breakfast was served in fairly small room on the 5th floor. It probably handles about 20 people at a sitting. The breakfast was quite acceptable, and all we needed. If I had to make a comment on the negative, it would simply be that it was a bit cramped in the self-serve part of the room. Otherwise it was nice and bright (there is a skylight above the dining area).
Overall I would recommend staying here when visiting New York. We were fascinated with the area, and it was walking distance from the nearest subway stop (they do offer free shuttle rides into Times Square every morning).More
