The photos on the website look great- and Debbie has done a wonderful job decorating her traditional brown stone Brooklyn house to a high standard. However don't come to this guest house expecting hotel style service.
Although Debbie is very friendly and accommodating, and the jazz evenings on Friday are impressive there are a few details that are lacking in the service. Breakfast is served at irregular times and there is not a great deal that is accessible without having to ask for it. This makes it difficult to plan when your day starts. The place is dusty and there are random bits and bobs like discarded water bottles and an iron lying around the house. There was no hot water for a few days and it was not fixed for a while which was frustrating. The area is also not the best and a few taxi drivers did their best to scare us with stories about it. I would not recommend it for single ladies. However it is close to the subway and taxis are relitively cheap.
If you come expecting a hotel style guest house stay you will be frustrated and disappointed, however if you come expecting to stay as a guest in a private home with a relaxed attitude you can have a lovely stay.
