“Best Gyro in town”

Parthenon Restaurant
Ranked #32 of 574 Restaurants in Fredericksburg
Description: Parthenon Restaurant is not your typical small town family restaurant; it is a local success story and Fredericksburg's Dining Landmark! We have been around since 1986 serving homemade Greek, Italian and American Favorites. We do not offer just a friendly dining experience, we offer opportunities for long lasting friendships here. This is not something that advertise, it is the general consent of the thousands of friends we have made!

This is the only place to go if you want an authenic Greek Gyro. Manny cooks the meat for the Gyro's on a spit unlike some of his competitors that use the chopped/pressed/shaped meat. The Tzatziki is first rate and the fries wonderful. Sophia makes time to chat and make you feel at home. The kourabiedes are just like home.

The Parthenon has been open for 30+ years. Very good Greek food and family service. The decor hasnt changed in 20years and I like that, it was my college hole-in-the-wall back in the day and it has that feel now.
Sophia's platter, with Gyro and Souvaki was the favorite plate, the younger kids loved the spaghetti and meatballs. Chicken parm was very good as well.

We were in Fredericksburg visiting and decided to try this place out as it was referred to us. We ordered a couple of pizzas for take out that were very delicious. Very tasty and not to heavy, unlike some of the other restaurants serving greasy, soggy pizza. While we were waiting for our pizzas we were invited in to sit and chat by one of the owners, Sophie. What a sweet and hospitable lady. Being that I'm Greek, we got to chatting about her home town in Greece, her family and local sights here in Fredericksburg. I learned that Sophie and her family have been running the restaurant for the past 32 years. WOW!!! I'm still in town for another week and I'm sure we will be heading back for a sit down dinner to try some of the other Greek delights. Sophie, thanks for the hospitality and for the delicious food. Good luck to you and your family.

Never mind the picture, which is inaccurate, Manny and Sophie provide the very best of Greek and daily lunch specials in town. If you don't know this place, too bad for you. Scrumptious.

This place is legendary amongst Mary Washington alumni from the late 80's and early 90's. It always feels like coming home, with the same menu and family running it. This is always my first choice when stopping in Fredericksburg on road trips.

Great calzones, get gyro meat and feta cheese. It's huge! Or opt for a gyro pizza as an alternative to pepperoni or sausage, it's great.

Forget chain restaurants. Go here.
